Little Amy has left the building ;D
She has taken up residence with Bev, Roy and their lovely daughter Amelia in Kent. Phone calls today to say that Amy has settled in so well that she went off lead today for a well earned run-around with a springerx.
She is being well loved and Bev has promised to provide some updated photos soon.
Way to go little Amy. You stole my heart and I must admit that many tears were shed when you left. Be happy little one. Much love and kisses from here. Jennyxxx

Just had a phone call from Bev. Amy had her second vax this evening and a thorough checkup. The vet tried to detect a heart murmur but had to admit that she couldn't hear one herself, but as Amy is booked in for neutering in March, she will do a heart scan when she is sedated before the op. Now I know why Barney calls me Mummychook, I worry over every one of them. They are our babies too I should be happy but today has been a sad day. Amy, have a lovely life little one; I know you will as Bev and Roy and Amelia will spoil you so much. See you for a lurcher walk one day. Bev has promised photos tomorrow. ;D

How on earth could we possibly have allowed the little poppet to go to a home where she's obviously extremely stressed?? ;D ;D ;D
Lovely to see her looking so cosy, bless her.

Had an update from Bev who adopted Amy. And some lovely piccies........... Just to let you know that Amy was spayed on Thursday, all went well, a low-grade heart murmer detected but not significant enough to cause any concern during or immediately following the operation. She has been good, considering she's had to take it easy for a few days, something that she's certainly not used to. I think the idea of being on a lead has been most frustrating as she's quite unfamiliar with it these days! She remains a real poppet and is adored by everyone that meets her, she's developed her own circle of 'doggy' friends from the various walks that we do, she has been to stay with 'Grandad' in Devon and was allowed to sleep on his chair (the rest of us daren't even sit in it!). We have certainly re-explored some walks that we used to do with Pippy, it's lovely being able to be out and about seeing the changing seasons again and Amy cretainly loves a variety of walks from woods, to fields and beaches. The neighbours all know her as she is often seen 'looking' out of the hallway window. She loves chasing squirrels in the woods, she has us in fits of laughter as she just springs about like Tigger and sometimes walks along on her hind legs, head in the air, in her determination to pursue them. She leaps into either car now, eager to be taken anywhere as long as there's a walk at the end of it. Though, when I collected her from the vets, after her op. she turned her back on me for the journey home and wouldn't have eye contact with me until around 9.30 that night. Roy says it will be a long while before she jumps into my car again! By the way, her weight is now 14.4kg. Bev..

Christmas wishes from Amy and her lovely family. Bev will try to send some photos, but here is her update. .................................... Amy continues to be a delight. Can't believe we've had her here almost a year, she has fitted in so well. She is such an intelligent young lady and such a character! Her latest trick is taking a piece of tinsel from the tree and running up and down the lounge shaking it. we put the same piece back on the tree, ready for next time and she doesn't touch anything else. She's found herself a boyfriend, that we meet up with as often as his owner can manage it, we've even exchanged telephone numbers, in order to coordinate the time of the walk! The dog is an 18 month old choc. labrador, who's as 'mad' and energetic as Amy; since meeting Amy and running about he's lost some weight as well. Most people in the village have got to know her as 'the fastest dog in the village!', she's such a show-off when she knows she can out-run most other dogs. She's also still very much a 'lap dog', as soon as we sit down she's on our laps, usually taking a turn on everyone's before the end of the evening. Of course if the fires alight she's more interested in roasting herself in front of that! Well, must go, a certain lady awaits her first walk. Wishing you and all at Southern Lurcher Rescue a peaceful Christmas and sucessful 2009, and thank you again for Amy. [ And this one which says it all - I love you Amy..... me too
