Andrea also made Elly's coat. She is very talented OMG but for the darker brindle I am seeing a slightly older version of Tag

Now don't you start that, I'm sure Lesley had a matching pair in mind when she saw Tag I'm not sure the cats nerves could handle 2 lurchers ;D

Well Bran lived up to his reputation as Mr Laid-Back this morning. We have a large dog crate right next to a hutch in our dining room to accommodate "house" bunnies that stay with us. That keeps them secure plus the door to that room is kept shut, so they are away from the dreaded lurcher. Bran has to go through that room to go out to the garden and is escorted when he does, after all we don't want him playing chase the bunny. So far he has wandered past the crate and paid no attention to the bunnies at all. This morning he did notice it, stopped and went nose to nose through the mesh, and that was it I'm not convinced that what we have here is a real lurcher at all ;D

;D You are so lucky. Mim doesn't chase bunnies or ducks or swans either, but all the rest will. Including Tag But he and Bran would make an excellent matching pair

I think that if he was out in the open or not under our watching eye then it might be different. Bran will chase after squirrels and birds, but even then it looks playful rather than anything else. It's worked out well with the cats. Teabag (don't ask, she came with that name ) is the one with the dodgy ticker, but the braver of the two and didn't mind Bran. Tigger is the scaredy cat and it's taken some time for her to settle and come in the same room as Bran. If he gets too close she will hiss and the claws come out, and he has learned to stay away. We have heard him barking in the morning downstairs, and when we get up to see whats going on Tigger is in his way and he won't pass her, so he barks for us. When he does walk by her he turns his head away, I assume to protect his eyes, but it does look funny. Big brave dog - not ;D

Today Bran had his assessment to become a PAT dog and guess what........he passed ;D ;D
One of the tests was something dropping to the floor; this was my only concern as I had visions of me being transported across the car park at 90 miles an hour, but no. The chap dropped a wheel brace and Bran just looked at it as much to say "clumsy" and then carried on nuzzling the chap.
The chap said he could have done the assessment over the 'phone because of the breed. With Bran he now has 13 greyhounds in his area. He reckons Bran is a greyhound; a heavier type that are used for coursing.
Anyway, well done Bran, I am so proud of him. You've just got to lurve him.

Well done Bran thats good to hear that he passed the assessment. I have just received the forms to fill in for Belle to be a PAT dog as she was having her op I have not rushed to do it but I must get it sorted, I was like you and wondered if she will pass the test. Let us know how Bran gets on and when he has his first PAT visit.

You blabbed Lesley! Thought we were going to post a pic of him sporting his PAT vest when he gets it ;D They bloke did say Barney that he thought bran was what he terms a "heavy" greyhound, not your sleek racing type, more of an all terrain greyhound ;D It's funny, we have had a few people now reckon he is 100% greyhound, not that it matters a jot as we love him whatever he is. He certainly has a very high proportion of that in him, but 100% ?, we shall never know

I have been told by the caretaker at my granddaughters school that Belle is 100% small greyhound. He has greyhounds of his own and has a lot to do with a local greyhound track. I don't agree with the racing side of it but he tries his best to re home a lot of the dogs locally.I did say she has no ear tattoos but he said its only the Irish dogs that always have them not all the ones from this country are tattooed. Mind you I don't believe he knows much about lurches as he told me they are only the rough coated dogs. So who knows and I don't think we even care. As you said we love them to bits whatever they are.

It's funny, we have had a few people now reckon he is 100% greyhound Hmmm - I can well believe it: I had more than one person ask me if my dear Seamus was a Greyhound! My stock reply was "there's a lot of Greyhound in him," which satisfied everyone's pride in their knowledge of dogs!
As you so rightly say Ian, it matters not: the important part of their mix is their character & temperament - who cares what label is stuck on them?
I have to admit that I was tickled by Dale's description as a 'Wicklow Hill Hound!' - I defy anyone who meets him to argue with that! ;D ;D ;D
