Poor Alfie is 8 years old and through personal reasons the family have had to put him up for rehoming as he is being left for long hours each day. They love him very much and say that he is a good, lovely boy who deserves better than they are able to offer him. Southern Lurcher Rescue are not fostering Alfie, as there is no room at the Inn, but we will do our utmost to find this lovely old lad a loving home where he can spend days being pampered and loved. Please feel free to cross-post this on any sites you feel and add our website address for reference. Click on his piccie to see more of him. To find out more email Jenny. Alfie is in Essex. He is neutered, and vaccinated and waiting. Many thanks.

Katemary did a visit on Alfie for us today and she says he is a lovely laid back lad. He loves a cuddle and is so child friendly. We don't think he is cat friendly. Alfie just wants some tlc for the rest of his days, that's about another 10 years if Alfie has anything to do with it ;D

Alfie is approximately 30 inches at the shoulder, so a big boy but a gentle one. Here are a couple of piccies that Kate took on her visit. And lovely Alfie with his new friend and visitor, Rory. ;D

What about www.oldies.org.uk/?And is Alfie on LL anywhere? He really is a big soft pup at heart, and so well behaved.

o fingers and toes and eyes crossed for him. He would be such a great companion for any dog. If I didn't think Ellie-puss would leave home, I would've fostered him in a heart beat. I was so impressed by how he sat and waited for a treat...even with an unknown dog (Rory) there. Can I post him on LL? I am not sure I know how duhhhhh! But can have a go!

Can I post him on LL? I am not sure I know how duhhhhh! But can have a go! Please do Kate - he is featured in the Other Homeless Hounds section but as yet there's been no reaction to Jenny's original post, which is such a shame because he's a smashing lad who deserves all the help we can muster to find a loving forever home where he can see out his twilight years in comfort.

You could try putting him in Chat, about your visit ;D Poor old chap. Just unfortunate that we are all booked with other dogs for a couple of weeks.

Sonia has asked if there is any update on Alfie. She so desperately needs to get him a home. He is being left long hours. Can you all spread the word. Somewhere there is someone who is lonely and looking for Alfie love

Everything crossed that a new home will be found soon for Alfie. He deserves someone who will see what a HUGE capacity for love he has. I still get a lump in my throat when I look at the pic of him with Ro...two well-behaved boys waiting so patiently for their treat! Alfie, despite having just met Ro, sat like a gentleman and there wasn't a grump out of anyone!

Elaine & Mike travelled up from Bristol yesterday to meet Alfie, then stayed overnight at a nearby hotel.
The meeting went well, & this morning they should be collecting Alfie & taking him down to the West Country as a companion for their dog Mac.
This is really heartwarming news: we're so pleased for the lad.
Thank you so much Kate for all your efforts on Alfie's behalf, which have now borne fruit, & are very much appreciated.
Congratulations on your new acquisition Elaine & Mike, & good luck in your new forever home Alfie!

And this today from Alfie's new mum and dad. Fantastic. ;D
Hi Jenny, we would like to thank you all at SLR for the wonderful work you do in bringing people and pets together. The moment Alfie met us at the door, the friendliness and trust in those beautiful eyes sealed it and we have fallen for him big time. All has gone well between Alfie and Mac since we got home, they have played and chased around together and are now both sound asleep up on the bed as i write this. We know that they are going to be lovely companions for each other and that means the world to us. Alfie has had lovely people in his life, Chris and Sonia have loved him dearly and it shows. We are so glad we can put their minds at rest over Alfies future and that people like you guys exist to make it happen. He will be loved. Elaine, Mike, Mac & Alfie xxx
