Poor Scruff has really been through the mill. His owner died and he was taken in by the Landlady. Unfortunately she has been taken ill and will no longer be able to care for him so he was taken to the vets, who seeing what a lovable boy he was tried to find him a home. He lived in the vets for a couple of days and they then contacted us to see if we could take him in. Shadow was picked up yesterday by one of our lovely foster team Jayne, but her dog Percy took an immediate dislike to Shadow. He was then moved up to Nina this afternoon and, fingers crossed, he is getting on really well with her 3 hounds, two dogs and one bitch. Little Shadow is a very amiable and submissive doglet. He will need neutering and needs a slimming plan! being a little overfed of late. He has a lovely nature and loves nothing better than to cuddle. Shadow is between 5/7 years old and not big for a lurcher x. Some beddie in there and something else, possibly angel!! ;D Here he is, Shadow. Aptly named, as he likes to follow you around. And at Nina's house with her crew today. Settling in well with Robbie, Finn and Cally.

Just wanted to say that Percy took an instant dislike to him - Shadow did nothing wrong!! Millie, my terrier, actually decided that she liked him though, and this is something of a miracle so he must have something about him..... If it hadn't been for Percy, I would have loved to have had him as a house guest because I thought he was really fab. The nurses at the vets where he stayed for a while thought he was fab too, and there were lots of tears when he left. The one lady said it was the first time she'd ever cried over a dog going, and that they'd tred to persuade the chief vet to let him stay as a practice dog because they were that attached to him. He is a bit special....

having now been here nearly 24 hours, i can confirm he is such a lovely boy. he asks for nothing, but company. not sure what he has been fed in the past, as he is a little overweight, but he is not a greedy dog, and will let the others steal his food. he dosen't counter surf either. i think he has just been fed the wrong things in the past, and so i don't think he knows what proper dog food is, bless him. this dog does not have a bad bone in his body, and "special" is definately the best word to describe him. i think he has been very lonely of late, and he just wants someone who can give him lots of time, love and attention. this morning we has to go out with our daughter, and out longer than we anticipated, and left him in the kitchen, and he was fine, chilled out on the kitchen sofa when we got back. this boy is going to be a great companion for somebody.

All we know Gillian is that he is about 8 kilos overweight, about 21/22 inches at the shoulder and has hardly been taken out for about a year. He is around 5/7 years old, but could be nearer 5 as his weight makes him look older. He needs a couple of walks a day to get his metabolism working again and trim down the barrel look

we have been out for a 20 minute walk this morning. walks very nice, but does like to sniff everything around him, and then pulls slightly, but to be fair, its probably all new to him again if he hasn't been walked much.
think he is going to need just regular shorts walks for the time being.
he is such a gentle lad xx

i showed shadow to my MIL and she loves him only problem is FIL is just waiting to have a hip replacement. She could manage to walk shadow without FIL as SIL could help she's more worried about the dog being tripped over while FIL is recovering

each day that goes by, shadow becomes more of a character. the first few hours here with us, he was shaking, now he has got so much more confidence, and always has a waggy tail for everyone.
last night, i could hear him crying, when to see what was wrong, and our dog robbie, has pinched one of shadows treats - the last one. - i managed to get the last bit off robbie, to give back to shadow. many dogs would have got cross over that, but not shadow, such a gentleman. today i have been out and bought shadow another 3 packets, luckily i was able to find them in wilkinsons, cos they are not something i have seen before.
we love this boy, he has so much to give, and such a lovely nature x

today shadow has had his first bath. a lovely lady called sarah, came round with her k9 mobile dog wash, and gave him a bath, and whats more she refused to take any money for it, as he is a foster dog. i have never met sarah before, and just got her number out of yellow pages, so i can't beleive she has been so generous. sarah said, things are going well with her business, and this way, she felt she could give something back, and has offered to bath anymore foster dogs that i have, for free. so thankyou sarah, i really appreciate your kindness, especially as shadow was not easy to keep still. anyway i have to say shadow overall was brilliant. he was clearly petrified, his eyes were pleading with me to look after him, and i did, to the point of nearly having a bath with him he must have really wondered what on earth was going to happen to him, but he is now chilled out by my feet, smelling much sweeter, and with a full belly. shadow, you are a star, and did you really think i would ever let anything happen to you,? you are such a nice boy,. and so deserve a loving forever home.

Posted above missus ;D Who was the lovely lady who came and bathed him for free because he was a rescue dog? What a lovely thing to do. sarah, from k9mobilewash. such a lovely lady, i did not know her before, - I just rang and left a message to make an appointment for shadow, and when she returned my call, we just got talking - as you do- she offered me an appointment at the weekend, but when i asked if there was anything sooner, she said she would fit me in after her other appointments on thursday, around 6pm, and would not charge me, as this would enable her to give something back. sarah is very busy, so we really do appreciate her generosity. sarah lives on her own with a rescue rotweiller, who is quite clearly, the centre of her universe.

shadow is having visitors tomorrow ;D we have loved fostering shadow, and we are going to be totally gutted when he goes, especially as we have seen such a change in him, during the past week, going from a quiet very subdued boy, to a lad now, who is so much more confident, complete with an ever ending waggy tail. - love you shads, - and we are always here for you, as with all our other fosters. we just want you to be happy for the rest of your life xxxx
