How right you are! Bailey is such a dear dog: so gentle. He craves love - and to give it - and is beginning to drop his guard a little already, after just 36 hours with us. He lies on the sofa looking rather forlorn, but will suddenly leap up and race about with his new toys - spare teddies and miscellaneous soft animals from years gone by. He shows real promise of being very entertaining as well as affectionate.

Lovely Bailey is probably still coming to terms with the fact that he has finally ended up in his loving forever home, bless him... Viviane. X

Anna, I would be very interested to have 'bailey/finn' run about sessions. It is one thing we feel awful about, and that is taking him away from his doggy friends, I'm sure he would love to meet finn. We have not let Bailey off the lead yet, we are letting him know his surroundings and the area first, and like you need a safe place to do this, as the last thing we want is for Bailey to run away (we have to make sure he knows we love him so much, and make sure he loves us that much too - so he doesn't want to run away). Speak soon.

It might be worth looking at people with indoor schools fpr a run about session we have a group here for rescue hounds once a week that uses an indoor school yet to take Kizzy, but have heard good things.
A local agility group also uses the same indoor school for trainign too maybe another option to look into

Lovely update received this morning:Bailey is the most wonderful loving dog. We took him to the beach quite late yesterday afternoon, and nobody was about, so we were able to let him off the lead. He jumped with joy, running and bouncing like a maniac. It was wonderful to see. Lucy even got him chasing his ball, however when he got it he didn't know what to do with it. It was so funny watching him run from one end of the beach to the other, then come back. (Although he liked the meaty bits I had in my pocket, that I had cooked up for him that I had got from the butchers). He was so good walking back beside us, but I think he was tired from the beach run, and liked the smell of my pocket - he got the treats once we reached nearly back to the car. He is such a good boy. However his recall was not too good, he only came back when he was ready, so we are glad we didn't go cliff walking at Beachy head !!!?, instead kept ourselves beach walking at the bottom. I think maybe he is putting on a little more weight? I have signed him in at our vets, and he said we could come any time to get him weighed, just to check he is going the right way. Bailey is really beginning to settle in now. He has had a wonderful play time with his toys, and then collapsed fast asleep with us on our (sorry his) settee!!! Please see pictures attached. He has said hello to our Bunnies yesterday. He chased one of the round the run, and when she stopped, he stopped, but he didn't paw or bark at her. The other bunny just sat still and he took no notice of her. He did actually come back to us when we called him, which was good, and he didn't bother them again, and the bunnies were out all day yesterday. He has limped past their hutch this morning with no problem, to do his business. However I think he is very tired after last night at the beach, we will be gentle with him today, as I am typing this he has just surfaced from his bed. Maybe the sound of his breakfast that Rob is now preparing, has got him up! That is good we have all had a lie in this morning. The pics Carole refers to will hopefully appear soon, (if I've done it right! :.

Well done folks, he looks so very splendidly content. We love his toys.
I wrote to the pack leader at KWT asking whether we could take the new boys for a run around their field or whether she could think of anywhere else more local. Waiting for reply.
We will call you soon, am keeping busy painting Lurcher portraits!

Bailey has attached himself to us, his new family beautifully. He is so freindly to everybody that comes to our house. He has been to quite a few houses now too and has been a very good boy everywhere we go - everybody loves him. He seems to be very happy, and so are we. I do have some more piccies to put on the site, but I am struggling to find out how? Can anybody help?

An update by Carole & Rob on the lovely lad's progress:Bailey has come on very well, off the lead. As long as he is somewhere safe for the first five minutes (while he goes loopy), he is absolutely fine - in fact walks right beside us, almost under our feet tripping us up. He doesn't bother with other people, if we tell him NO to joggers, people on bikes etc, he stays with us, but can't help playing with the other dogs. Most of the time though, where we go others are off the lead so that is fine. He comes to us when we call him probably 7 out of 10. The other three we have to go and get him!!! So we thought we would brave the downs. We didn't go to Beachy head where there are sheers drops but just to the downs, where you can actually walk down to the beach from the top (we didn't on this day as the sea was right in), but you can see we had a lovely walk with Bailey - he loved it and stayed very close to us apart from once. He couldn't resist this other dog and went running to play with him. We carried on walking calling him - but he didn't come. So off we go to get him, when we noticed he was going up to two other people - Rob used the whistle (that you gave us in our pack), that we do often (very useful and works),and suddenly he looked startled, looked around and realised these people were not us, then saw us and came bombing towards us at a speed of knots ignoring everything else around him, until he was at our feet - arrgh... It was a lovely sight, and proved to us that Bailey actually quite likes us now too.... He is ours and we are his, he is just so totally wonderful. www.onetruemedia.com/shared?p=864b2eac68819b506286d9&skin_id=601&utm_source=otm&utm_medium=text_urlBarney x

Carole and Rob popped over to Arts Hut this week, with their gorgeous hound. I posted a few fun pics in the Exhibition thread in Chat. As I did their home check I thought I should report in to say that Bailey is beautiful, a bit nervous of the bunnies in his new back garden so he ignores them which is great and has fabulous recall, as he stays close to his new family. He is enjoying getting out and about and the girls love to play with him and all in all everyone is over the moon. The verdict another fabulous forever home match by SLR. xx
