Vicky rang a little while ago. Not the best of news for little Simba. His lumps were thought to be just fatty tissue that all oldies get. But during his checkup the vet detected a heart murmur, thought to be around a grade 4. Considering that Simba is a 10 year old little man a grade 4 can be lived with. The main thing is that he is not over-taxed and does not put on weight to put strain on the heart. Vicky's vet mentioned putting him on medication but on our past experience of Joe we would hope that he could carry on for a few years yet without resorting to that. When heart medication is administered it can result in malfunction of the other organs, i.e. liver and kidneys. We are just waiting to hear whether a potential adopter has been put off by this new diagnosis. It would not put me off. A grade 6 is the highest, and at 10 years old with a grade 4, he is still doing well.

That's sad to hear; let's hope the adoptees still want him. He could last for a while yet; Teabag (cat) had a murmur when we adopted her (don't know what grade) and wasn't expected to live long and that was 2 years ago and shei s the bravest of the 2, so it really shouldn't put people off.
Good luck Simba hope you get your forever home.

Lets hope he has a good few and healthy years ahead of him yet, and he will soon fine a forever home.

Poor boy, but he looks healthy, so it must not be bothering him. My trigger has a heart murmer, they didn't give a grade. She is 10. Loves to walk and walk and will run around with cassie. She knows herself when she has had enough. Her's was only detected about this time last year when she went in and was spayed. No problems from it in the last year, so hope this news does not put them off. Thoughts are with you Simba.

Hope the interested people can give him a home - where he can be loved after all he has been through.

Here are a couple more piccies of the lovely lad, he is such a dream to have here and his heart murmur can't affect him that much as he jumped a 3 foot fence today!!! (luckily it is only a fence that seperates my decking from the lawn, my garden should be lurcher proof!) I told him to go and pose with the kids and he walked off turned round and lay down like this!!! It looks like my daughter is strangling him but I promise she isn't! Who could resist this face?

And hot off the press - they are curled up like this as I type, sound asleep!! He is soooo loving now he has settled, when he gets nervous he hides behind me still but that's not often. We had a lot of visitors Saturday, they ranged from the age of nearly 2 to 62 and he was fantastic with all of them!

I have an angel on the oldies site who is looking out for him. This lady, who compiles the oldies blurb has just described Simba as my ideal doglet. I am so grateful to them for listing him. All we need is for a miracle for little Simba. I so wish for one. www.oldies.org.uk/?p=5508

As sad as we'll be to see Simba go I have everything crossed for him, the interest sounds promising. He deserves it so much too.
