Hi, an update on Ned. He's settled in well, uninterested in my cat, Baggy. I can't say the same about Baggy, he is NOT amused at having another dog in the home. Ned is generally clean in the house now, just a bit of marking occasionally but I think this will end when he's neutered. Fits in well with my 2 dogs, and Fran and Len's 4. Plus a retired greyhound. There's now a pack of 8 dogs on the downs every morning. He went off lead for the first time this morning with no problems and pretty good recall. OK if left for an hour or 2, but he does have 2 companions in home, not sure how he'd react on his own. Not food aggressive and very affectionate. Would like to post some photos but cant work out how yet. Seem to come out as jpegs. Not very computer savvy, will wait for Fran to show me how.

Ned is approx 24/25 inches to shoulder. He looks to have a bit more filling out to do, still quite ribby and light. Off to the vets at 2pm for vacs and discussion on neutering and nail trim as they are very long and I'm tired of being shredded! As with all my animals he has developed a full name as well as a pet name. His full name is 'Hairy MacClairy' (from Araluen dairy)! Tig, my brindle lurcher is Sir Geoffrey Tiggleson, 4th Earl of Araluen! and Cadpig my Jack Russell is Caddy-Caddy-Cadpig! Sorry about the nonsense, all part of being a daft dog owner I guess! After all I must be daft to embrace another dog in this wet weather. Mind you, today has been fine so far. Ned knows how to do the prewash when loading the dishwasher and how to rob toast crusts from the bird table! Think I may fail my first foster, he fits in so well and it's only day5!!!!

Hello Denyse. Well done on fostering Ned. You're not the only daft dog owner. My late greyhound, Lucy, had the pet name Lady Lucy Locket as she was genteel and sweet. The present hound has a pet middle initial 'T' which stands for Terrific most days and Trouble occasionally! With Ned fitting in so well and already having a pet name I did wonder whether he is going anywhere?!! x

All dogs should have more than one name. My lot answer to their nicknames as well as their proper ones.
