Aaaawww just look at that gorgeous pink schnozz. Great update Lara. Sounds like Georgie is ready for her forever sofa. I'm sure she'll make a loving companion for some lucky family.

The sun was out (crikey!) so snapped Georgie eyeing up Riley to pounce and in a lovely regal pose. Met more people on the walk who said wow, what a pretty girl. Then she sided up and gave them the big brown eyes and got the attention and pats that she loves. Hi Lara. Can I check please... Are you still needing Georgie to move to another foster home? If you do, we'll put a post in the appropriate section (you posted in General Chat for one needed before Easter without anyone coming forward). Let us know. Thanks. X

X Loz, It was just over Easter that Lara needed somewhere for Georgie to go.

Georgie had a really, really good chase and run with another cream saluki cross today. Jess was from Battersea and her owner was as pleased as me that the 2 girls had such long zoomies. Georgie was a bit bigger and faster. They were both filthy by the end. Her daughter was very keen to add another to the family and was very interested to hear about how I was fostering. Actually I think she wants a whole pack. Her mum loved seeing the 2 pretty girls together.
Ive found that Georgie is more responsive on recall if I raise my hand when I call. She comes flying up, skids to a halt and wolfs down the treat. She has wandered off a few times, into the woods, but has returned on her own accord and in her own time. She has got close to some daft pigeons who take off but fly low instead of going up and she has some leap on her!

She’s a very special little girl and you’re doing great with her. I’m sure you’re learning lots from her and she’s doing the same with you. Hope to see you both again soon.

Yes, learning a lot! The difference in Georgie in the 5 weeks I have had her is dramatic. The scared and skittish dog that gave me a couple of heart attacks in the first few days by shooting out the front door is disappearing in an affectionate and happy dog. Far less jumpy about sudden noises and miles more accepting of men. She is naturally enthusiastic and interested in new things and has taken to the toys and treats I have introduced, including rabbit ears and dried fish skins. She would love to curl up with Riley but he is having none of it, just slinks off. Last few nights, Ive allowed her on my bed sometimes and she cannot be happier curled up right next to me.
The whistle is very useful to get her attention at a distance then I hold my hand up and call. Sometimes she looks and waits, making her decision, other times she is straight back. I keep my eye on her, to get her attention, before she starts to think about going in a different direction. If she does, she can get a bit disorientated so again the whistle helps to direct her. Some young boys thought she was lovely yesterday, stroking her and saying how soft her coat is. Again, the big brown eyes get turned on and people melt!
Hoovering up the food and put some weight on but the saluki in her means she will always look a bit like a super-model!

It's amazing how they adapt and their characters come out when they have a secure and supportive environment. You're doing really well with this beautiful little girl. She's going to make someone a really special companion.

Quick up date on Georgie. She went to her new home with Lisa and family near Fareham and I have had some lovely updates on how she is settling in and that they are all besotted with her! She is even gradually taking to hubby Mark and sitting on the sofa with him. Their lovely gent Loki has even given up space on the bed for her. Its the first time I have fostered and handed a dog over, a little weird to say the least but could see that Lisa really bonded with her so felt better about it. Hope all goes well with them all.
