Thankyou all for your good wishes for Ivy's op. Frankie and I dropped her off at the vet Friday morning. She wasn't keen on being left and Frankie couldn't wait to go, bless them both. We were told the op went fine, just routine and we could collect her at 6. We arrived at 6 and were told that she had started to vomit, only twice and we could take her as long as we monitored her and rang them in the morning if she was sick in the night. Phil, bless him, stayed on the sofa with her all night, I won't say slept. She was over drinking all night, weeing everywhere and bringing back most of what she drank. I took over at 5 in the morning and as soon as the vet was open, I rang them and took her straight in. She had reacted badly to the meds and become very dehydrated so was admitted. I was worried that she would be upset at being left, but she was so excited to see all the people who had cuddled her the day before, she literally dragged the vet out the back to look for the nurses, leaving the vet to scrabble with her nails trying to grab the paperwork as she disappeared out the door, leaving me alone and without a second thought!! Anyway, she was put on a drip and given meds to settle her stomach. They kept her over night and we went to collect her this morning. Even in a cage it appears she can still be naughty. She took her buster collar off in the night and removed her drip!! However, she was much improved and had kept food in, so she was good to go. Frankie had been bereft without her and gave her a lovely greeting when we got in. She and Phil cuddled up on the sofa and both slept for about 3 hours. Ivy missed a meal, but I thought it better she had a healing sleep. I doubt she will miss another meal in her life!!! She has to go back on Tuesday to be checked, but I think she is on the mend and will hopefully have lots more healing sleep. I am sure she will be up and running and back to usual naughtiness in a couple of days.

Sorry you had such a traumatic time. I hope Ivy is now well and truly on the mend. Frankie is obviously smitten with her! Good luck with keeping Ivy calm the next few days.

An upsetting few days, you must be relieved that Ivy seems to be on the mend now. Sending fast healing vibes and good luck keeping her calm for the lead walking recovery period!

It seems that neutering is routine and nothing to worry about and then you hear about something like this. Awful for you but thankfully you had a vet that was on the ball. Very pleased to hear that Ivy is on the mend and still likes the vet! Make sure that the notes detail the meds so that they can be avoided in future - hopefully she won't need any for a long, long time now.
ETA : maybe worth letting the other pup's families know so that they can ensure that their vets use caution for the pups GAs just in case there is a genetic element.

Ivy, sure you will be feeling well by tomorrow, just a little hiccup, but hopefully you won't remember what has gone on πΆπΆ

Thankyou all for your good wishes. Ivy is recovering well and is firing on all cylinders, a little too early. She has been helping with gardening today. The vets are very pleased with her and she should get the all clear on Monday for silly running and general naughtiness.
