Yep, day four they come out of their shell and on day 12 you see the real Lurcher. Good luck Han x That’s what I always say to new adopters! Try to ignore them as much as possible for 3 days, and 2 weeks before their real character comes out. She sounds like a really sweet natured little girl which isn’t going to change

Trying my hardest to ignore her just around the house ...on walks I’m working on recall and walking to heel. She had tried to get on the sofa straight away but I said no, i have in when neil had gone to bed, 🙈 She’s off to get chipped this morning so will see how she is at vets 😄

So day four has been and gone! Nalas confidence is growing by the day at home but is still very timid in a new environment. She went to the vets on Monday and had her chip done and today she went back for her first vacination. She was good as gold, the vet and nurses love her. She was timid and quiet but when the nurse came to make a fuss of her she started to wag her tail and then relaxed. The vet thinks she is around three years old as she has a bit or plaque build up on her teeth. She loves being around other dogs but needs to be introduced carefully. We were sat in the vets and a girl came out of the consulting room with a big black lab and I thought she was walking out of the door but she marched up to Nala and just let her dog shove its nose in her face which terrified her and they started barking at each other. The girl quickly left and Nala settled but she was clearly frightened and went into defense mode. It was silly of the girl and totally unnecessary but that’s another story... Nala is booked in for her neutering on Friday morning. At home Nala is happy and settled, she had one toilet accident on Sunday but other than that has been clean and is starting to get into a routine and we are learning when she needs to go out, she’s a quick learner. Recall is coming, she knows there is wildlife outside of the paddocks and is interested but if I run away and leave her she wants to be with me more and does come back. I think given the chance she would chase but I’d be confident of her coming back once the recall is firmed up. Also my boys have a high prey drive and she seems influenced by what they are doing! She likes chasing after the tennis ball and loves playing with her toys and loves cuddles and a fuss. She’s a princess and has slotted into our home and life as though she has been here forever. Someone is going to be very lucky xx

Lovely update Han. She's on a huge learning curve, that in itself is testing for her. I'm sure she will learn from you and her foster hounds.

She looks and sounds beautiful. She is also the spitting image of our Ivy. Looking at the photos she behaves just like her also. Someone will be very lucky if they give her a home. She so deserves a happy life.

Princess Nala was spayed today. I felt so sad leaving her and kept myself busy by cleaning and washing everything in sight! Everything went well but my poor baby girl is feeling very sorry for herself and is currently lying in her cage singing saluki songs to me. She ate all her dinner which is good but she’s zonked from the anaesthetic and wobbly on her feet. I will be wishing next week away while she’s on the easy list but I hope it will all be worth it when she comes to wales with us the week after and can enjoy the lovely walks and beach runs
