What a beautiful boy! He’s coming out of his shell a little now...sneaking off with one of the children’s toys or a piece of paper from the table. He takes it slowly and delicately before sneaking off...hoping I’m not watching...
I’m always watching!
Lance continues to be chilled. I do wonder if he has been treated badly. If you hug him when he hasn’t asked for it, it’s like he freezes. He seems so delicate. But not aggressive or “jumpy” at all.
He knows to go to the toilet outside and understands “bed”...but I’m not sure he has lived indoors because he isn’t sure about going through doors and any stairs are terrifying for him. I wish they could tell us what they have been through.
Lance walks perfectly on the lead and seems engaged, so I don’t think he will be hard to train. He is friendly, calm and submissive with other dogs. Loves children.
Tomorrow I need to get on with contacting the vets. I have been chocka at work today and didn’t want to leave the responsibility to the hubby who has spent most of the day cuddled up on the sofa with Lance and Izzy.
X

“Here are some pictures of me when I was out for a walk today - check out my new harness. We went out earlier and bought a kong and a couple new chew toys in Moles Country Store. There were loads of new dogs in there and I was very calm and kind. After our long walk I found a lovely space in the sun for a lovely snooze. I’m hoping I can get my chops round the joint of beef cooking in the oven...Mmmmmm”

Hope to meet up with Lance for a walk in the big field at Danebury sometime.
When I had him on a harness at the Pound he put all his brakes on - obviously he is getting used to leaning new things !

Well, this is Lance, minus his testicles! He is doing well, although the anaesthetic hit him hard and it took him a good while to fully come back to normal. He was restless all last night, not sure if that was due to all the sleeping during the day, or being uncomfortable... like a small child, I am trying to keep him from any long sleeps today so he lets me sleep tonight! Everyone he meets says it is hard to believe he is under a year...he is so chilled and laid back...although not too sure about him being left without another dog or human for company...the vet said he seemed to whine abit if he couldn’t see someone yesterday. The plan is to chill today, especially after the op and tomorrow we are going to visit a friend who has a cat...just a short and hopefully laid back visit, nothing too strenuous or stressful.

Huge thanks Clair for stepping in. He is already looking so much more relaxed, even after the op. I think we will be looking for a home with another dog as the kennels did say also that he liked to be with the other dogs.

Absolutely, either that or someone who would be with him pretty much 24/7... He is quite shy, but still very sociable.
