We've been asked to see if we can help find Jesse a new home. His young owner has been offered an amazing job over the other side of the world and doesn't think that Jesse would be able to cope with the move. He was one of a litter of 7 that lost their mother to a road traffic accident. Jesse's owner hand-reared him from just a week old which makes it even harder for her to give him up. She is heartbroken at having to let him go and she will only let him go to a home that will love him as much as she does. Jesse's owner is looking to rehome him from her home. Here's what his owner says about him: "Jesse is an energetic loving lurcher, who is great with people and children. He seeks constant attention, but pays this back with unconditional love to those who care for him. His speed on the ground is impressive, chasing sticks, toys and pretty much anything else you are will to use as a play instrument. The beach is also a hot spot for him as he loves to swim. Jesse is a very affectionate little pooch who is always ready for a cuddle on the sofa. He is known to be slightly edgy round other dogs if provoked, but a little training would easily irradicate this small behavioural problem. Jesse is impeccably house trained and would fit perfectly into a family home." Here are some photos of this lovely little boy:

He's a handsome chap, I can't believe that he'll be waiting long. How old is he?

Christine - do you know if the present owner has a preference for Jesse to go to a family, couple or one person household? And does she think he would be better with another dog or as an only dog? Thank you.

Thank you. I've emailed the owner and will let you know what the answers are. Many thanks Christine. I have two sets of friends who might potentially be interested. Both have had sighthounds and/or lurchers in the past. Different household types, couple with a dog (4 year old whippet) and single person without at present. I directed both to the website and advised they should contact SLR if after reading the information on Jesse and rehoming requirements they are still interested. Thanks again. Heartbreaking for his present owner. I am sure it will not take long to find his new forever home.

The owner has said he should be an only dog and that he could be in a family situation with children, possibly over the age of 7, but he’s been good with younger children who are aware of how to behave with a dog. So he could be ok with younger children who are experienced with dogs.

Jesse is still looking for his forever home from his own home. His owner goes away in the next few weeks. He has been well loved and she wants him to go to another loving home.

I forgot about this one. Someone we know has just lost one of her two whippets to a RTA and is looking for another to be a companion to her remaining one.

Hi Natalie, please see my post to you on Lucy's (now Nell) thread for what to do next if you're interested in offering a home to an SLR hound.
