Thank you for all your good wishes and positive vibes. They've worked again! I had a message from the vet to say the surgery went well and the lumps were easily removed. He's cleaned her ears but said they are in a poor condition and will take some time to get back to a better state. It took longer than they anticipated so she's only just coming round so he wants to keep her in overnight. I'm pleased they are doing this as her ears are going to be sore and I'd rather she was at the vets where they can keep an eye on her. I'll update tomorrow when she's home again. That's great news Christine. I think I too would be happier for them to have her overnight, given what he has said about her ears. As you say they will be sore and she is in the best place for pain relief. Poor girl though. It shows what a lovely temprement she has to be so loving when her ears were so bad. Again, I am tearful that such a lovely girl was let get into this state. Thank you for taking such great care of her Christine xx

Such good news - I have been out all day and couldn't wait to get home and find out how the op had gone. You must feel so relieved that today is over. Hope she makes a great recovery.

Wonderful news. Well done Christine.....back to normal stress levels? xxx Yeah... pretty much! The vet has said that her ears are bad and one is so bad he can't tell what the infection is like inside. It's the product of years of inflammation and infection that hasn't been attended to - one ear is like leather it's so thickened. It's going to be a long haul to get them cleared of infection and her right ear is never going to go back to normal. He's starting with drops in her ear to reduce the inflammation and sending a swab off to be tested. At least the product will help relieve the itching and soreness. Apparently she's been really good at the vets and really easy to manage... no making a fuss, eating well, going out for a bio break and walking perfectly on the lead.... she's an all-round sweetie for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing her tomorrow without that awful tumour.

It never ceases to amaze me that many of the sweetest natured dogs are those that have suffered and been neglected the most. Sending special ear healing vibes to sweet Nettie and a hug to her fantastic fosterer. xxx

Delighted, (& relieved), at the latest bulletins on the dear little lass. Hugest thanks to Christine for personification of the SLR ethos -"We help because we care."

Very pleased that this girl is now having her medical needs seen to after what sounds like a long period of neglect. I hope she had a good night and will start to feel a lot better now. I am sure that her mental health has already improved a lot with Christine and her pack.

So pleased everything went well but i feel so sad for her; being allowed to get into this state in the first place and her ears have obviously been painful for a long time I hope she had a good night and makes good progress with her recovery xx

I've had no Internet for a day and finally have a good line, thanks to the sunshine. I am so relieved. When the dog warden contacted us she and I suspected that Nettie had come from a house where we had had an older bitch before. I just wish we could have had her sooner. She must have resigned herself to suffering years ago. She will want for nothing from now on and will stay a sponsored dog to make sure she does. I know how much of a mental turmoil this has been for Christine, and it isn't over yet. Keep them in your thoughts peeps. If we all throw our bucketload of SLR vibes she will come through this and at least have some time of love, comfort and spoiling. Xxxxxxx

Sending a huge amount of love and healing vibes for Nettie and hugs for Christine. Thinking of Netties wonderful future and not of her bleak past 😒. Nettie will blossom under SLR's care xxx

Nettie is back home after the surgery which went really well. She was a good girl at the vets and didn't make any fuss and has been eating well. She's got a dressing on the area where the large lump was removed but the smaller one under her chest has been left open. I'm back to the vets tomorrow for Leo to check the dressing. This sweet girl hasn't needed a collar of shame as she's made no attempt to lick the wounds. She's a bit quiet and is sleeping lots, but she likes her sleep anyway and this is a good time for her to sleep and get her strength back. I have to put drops in her ears which I'm not looking forward to but I'll have to get used to it as she's going to need them for some time. Here she is asleep and looking pretty after her trip to the groomers.
