Huge thanks for all the positive vibes.... they worked! Most of the issues that we feared were serious have turned out to not be a major issue. The scan showed there were no issues with the vital organs (no masses showing up) and the discharge from her vulva turned out not to be pyometra (which is good news). The vet thinks it could be left over from a season so he's recommending not to spay her for at least 1-2 months. What we thought might have been a secondary cancer in her lungs looks like it's just a cough - maybe kennel cough - because there are no masses in her respiratory tract. The only remaining concern is that the scan showed a slightly enlarged lymph gland in her stomach - not related to the mammary tumours. The vet wants to make sure the mammary tumours aren't malignant before operating so he's done a fine needle aspiration (like a biopsy) which will be sent away for testing and should be back early next week. When he did the aspiration he got out lots of fluid which was an interesting, and good, sign. So it looks like I'll be able to book her in for surgery to remove the lumps next week. We still need some of those positive vibes for the test results next week, but so far it's looking very positive. Nettie was so pleased to see me when I went to pick her up. She gave me such a sweet little skip and waggy tail greeting, I'm thinking of changing her name to Skippy! Here she is having a cuddle - something she loves!

I have been waiting with bated breath - pleased with the news so far. Fingers crossed for good news next week. Well done, Christine - this kind of thing must put a lot of pressure on you and be much more stressful than for us keyboard warriors.

I was actually dreading logging on, so was relieved to see that the news is positive. This lovey Lady so deserves a few years of love, fuss and security

It's been a stressful day waiting for the news. I was dreading the worst but so happy when I got the call from the vet. She has a number of issues and to have them turn out to be treatable was a big relief. She is such a sweet, easy dog. She's captured my heart, for sure.

Nettie is getting more and more perky every day. She seems to be getting stronger and isn't scratching so much. I've been spraying her with Neem Spray which helps relieve the itching and her appetite is definitely improving. She wouldn't touch any of the raw food when I first got her and I've been cooking it for her, but each time I put a little bit of raw mix in and she's now eating that first. She was happy to take a little raw chicken wing tip today when she saw the other dogs eating theirs.
I'm hoping that good food without wheat will help improve her skin and coat. She's definitely more interested in food now and has more energy - she's skipping out into the garden after my dogs. It's so good to see her character coming out. She's a very calm and placid girl, but there's a really sweet twinkle in her eyes now. I'm going away at the end of the month ... guess who's going to look after Nettie while I'm away?

Absolutely thrilled that so far so good with Nettie's health issues - this must be a huge relief for you and will keep up the vibing that the tests from the mamary lumps are harmless and can be removed to make her more comfortable. Keeping everything crossed
