He's even more lovable in the flesh. xx It's true. This (not so) little man is so lovely. It's no surprise that everyone who meets him says how gorgeous he is. He's not following me around so much and has settled into his new routine after just 3 days. He loves playing with his toys and all my dogs enjoy playing with him. Anyone who wants a lovely tall, affectionate and playful young dog would fall in love with Ollie. I'm going to put together some videos so you can see how sweet he is.

I met up with Philippa and Zephyr and Lily this morning, along with Ollie and the couple who adopted Bertie. I wanted to see how Ollie was off the lead so we went to Tadley and let Bertie and Ollie off in the basketball courts area where they could run without escaping. Bertie loved playing with Ollie and was quite good about coming back, but there's still some way to go before Pat and Ivor can let him off the lead in open spaces. Ollie was good about coming back but, as Mick had advised me, he only comes so close and then moves away. He's learnt that coming close and accepting treats means he's going back on the lead so he won't get close enough to be caught. Philippa eventually managed to slip the lead round his neck when I went out of the courts. It was the combination of having had some fun playing and then wanting to get back to me meant it was possible to get him. But it's going to be a work in progress to get him used to coming back and not minding about going back on the lead. I've had a couple of dogs like this in the past, but my dogs are all fine so I'll be patient and keep working at it and hopefully they will help him learn. I need to keep him on the lead for a week or so longer and keep taking him to the basketball courts where I can let him off. Here are the two boys walking happily together. I thought Bertie was tall, but he looks quite slight next to Ollie, although they were on a slope. Bertie has a much finer face and not such crazy ears as Ollie.

Wonderful to see Bertie and Ollie this morning. At the end of the walk SLR Poppy came over to greet them too and they both thought she was rather nice. Ollie is a sweet boy and just needs a bit of work to get him to realise that he needs to come back when called.

Major breakthrough today... Ollie went into the crate in the kitchen all on his own! I've not tried to get him in there as it's not quite big enough for this tall boy, but Alice loves to go in there and Daisy has started sleeping in it. Ollie bent down and slowly worked his way in while I was in the kitchen. He's still at the stage of following me around so he came out when I went upstairs but directly I came back to the kitchen he went straight for the crate. He's now going in there whenever I'm in the kitchen. Each day this lovely boy surprises me with how well he has adapted to our routines.

He is doing so well Christine, your home obviously suits a variety of hounds pups and big dogs a like. It's great to get a breakthrough with crating.
