Well the lovely Pearl is jumping in the car quite confidently and mostly getting out quite willingly so long I stand back to give her space. Sometimes she has sat at the far end of the room but today she walked right past me to come up the other end all on her own. A small step but slowly improving in confidence. We have been having shortish frequent walks in quiet areas and stopped to chat to a couple more friendly dogs and owners. She seems more lively today and yesterday took a huge leap right across the length of a bed plus half a room like a gazelle. She has been completely clean indoors for the last few days. Yesterday when I was getting dinner she came and sat with Sadie in my end of the kitchen without being asked or persuaded so again- small steps.

I love reading updates like yours Carol. So heartwarming to hear of a hound relaxing and beginning to trust again.

I've just had the pleasue of sharing my dinner with Pearl. I did some Pork loin joints and Pearl came and looked at me with a hungry face and took some out of my hand! She's also come round to the front of the settee and taken biscuits from my hand held over my lap today for the first time. She remains very nervous and jumped out of her skin earlier today when we met a man with his small dog coming out of the vets but we have at least had progress with the hand feeding at home. We saw Liz today at Afrivets who gave her the second booster injection plus drontal . She has also prescribed some Zylkene to help with anxiety which she started this evening.

Well todays been a day of ups and downs, Pearl had a bit of a panic attack early today with a lot of trembling so I took her to see Graham who checked her over . She is fine but still finding things very worrying so he gave her a very low dose tablet to take the edge of her anxiety. So far it seems to be working a treat. Huge thanks to Leonora for meeting us with Lulu. All the hounds enjoyed each others company, Sadie got a much needed run and Pearl met a large friendly white Shepherd and a large white Flookie both friendly plus owners so a good bit of socialising. Pearl had a good lunch and this evening she ate 2 mugs of food instead of her usual one at tea time plus extras and biscuits and is still looking hungry. She stayed at her food bowl and ate it all in one go instead of stop/starting and running off in between mouthfuls. She is very lively indeed this evening and venturing off around the house without Sadie , and behaving far more like a lively 18 month old would normally behave. Over the last couple of days she will now come to me when I try to take them into the garden and lie down near by so I can pick up her leads. Before she would just run away.

Sounds like the meds are calming her. Hopefully it will help boost her confidence.

Lulu and I had the pleasure of meeting pretty little Pearl this afternoon. She is only just a bit smaller than Lulu and the pair of them seemed to take to each other walking along calmly together side by side on the lead. Pearl is very lucky to to be fostered by Carol with lovely gentle Sadie, just the right combination to give her confidence and allay her fears. Hopefully we can meet up on a regular basis and maybe in the end she will be able to go off lead for a run with Lulu

Lovely photos. She seems to find great comfort from contact with Sadie. Poor little thing to be so traumatised, but you and Sadie are obviously doing a great job.
