This lovely stunning boy needed out. His time was up and we have been asked if we can bring him in for fostering. Around 18 months old. Other dog friendly. Gorgeous. He came in via a long transport run thanks to Romi, Christine and Michael and I picked him up on our way back from Henley over to London Colney to meet up with Rowan and Helen. What an absolute star to transport. He gently eased his way through the dog guard and onto the back seat, looked at us with those lovely eyes and laid down with his head on the rest between the passenger and driver seat. Not a peep. He gives the Lurcher lean, greets everyone with a wag and is just gorgeous. More photos to follow from the run and I am sure some super photos will follow from Rowan once he is settled in. He is approximately 18 months - 2 years max and around 26" to the shoulder. He could do with just a kilo or two at most on. Poor mite is at the moment very flat footed. Did I mention gorgeous? xxxx

After a tiring day, some excited exploring, a walk and some dinner, all is quiet here now and Bertie is currently fast asleep snuggled up to me. This one's a cuddler, and he knows exactly what's up when it comes to the sofa- when we came in here to settle down for the evening he jumped straight up, lay down and seemed to be thinking 'oh yes, this suits me very well.' A proper update and photos to follow later, but at this point we can say he's gorgeous and there doesn't seem to be a bad bone in this boy's body, he is a real sweetie and just wants to make friends.

I'm so pleased that Bertie has settled OK. I must admit I fell in love with this lovely little boy during the transport run and if I could manage 4 dogs I would have happily kidnapped him. He is such a gentle, sweet-natured, playful gentleman, full of fun and loves being cuddled. I can't see him being with SLR for very long. This little man needs to be snapped up quick before someone else spots how gorgeous he is.

After quite an exciting day yesterday, Bertie settled down in the evening and was happy to sleep whilst we watched tv. When we went to bed, he tried to follow me, and I had to send him back to bed a couple of times. But once I went out I heard him do a walkabout, probably to check if there was anyone left downstairs. Then he settled down and we didn't hear anything from him all night. Came down this morning to find a couple of wees, but they were by the back door, so he obviously was trying to go out to do it. Apart from that he hasn't had any other accidents. He's quietly confident in the house. Some fosters we've had can be a bit stressed at first in the house, but Bertie settled right in, so I get the feeling he's lived inside before. Out on walks he gets quite excited seeing dogs in the distance (just pulling and crying), but with regular meetings with dogs round here I think he will calm down. Up close he's very friendly and playful. I think he's just been alone for a while and misses other dogs! Bertie had quite an exciting day today. We went to visit friends in Norfolk and took Tipton and Bertie with us. They have a lovely big garden and two spaniels, one mongrel and a whippet lurcher called Floss. Bertie was brilliant with all the dogs, greeting them all nicely. However, he took a shine to Floss, and after an exuberant running session, Floss rested on the floor whilst Bertie licked her ears! I think he was in love! He was happy to have cuddles with all the humans, and got lots of fuss. Everyone said how lovely he was! He's had a rags to riches couple of days. Yesterday morning he was in a kennel, homeless and alone, and today he was playing with a beautiful whippet in a grassy garden, and being fed homemade ice cream off a china plate! Lucky boy! So now we need to get him neutered ASAP (he scent marks a lot and was very enamoured with Floss), and get him used to his name. But he's a lovely cuddly and playful boy. He's very affectionate, and will come up to you and stare up at you with his big doe eyes. We all think he's wonderful. Here's some photos of his day today: Settling in last night: Meeting the dogs today: Being fed ice cream! (You can see how skinny he is ) Settling down nicely so we could have some tea Cuddles on the bench Playtime with Floss Being a doofus Kissing his new girlfriend Floss being a flirt! And a for Bertie And here's a video of them playing, just click to play it Hope you enjoyed the photo overload, makes up for no photos yesterday!
