Tag had a lovely day today. Lesley and Ian contacted me to see if they could walk with us and help to see if Tag was cat friendly. We had a lovely walk at North Weald on the Essex Way They got on lovely. Bran being the calming influence that little big Tag needed. Bran is so laid back and Tag such a puppy, it was quite comical seeing Tag trying to get Bran to play. Ian and Lesley kindly offered to take Tag home for the night to see if he was cat friendly. We had lunch together and the dogs were fine so off went Tag with Lesley and Ian to see how he went..... But... alas..... it was not to be... Tag is NOT cat friendly. I know you have a soft spot for him Lesley, and thank you for trying for us. He is crashed out in front of the fire at the mo. He's had a lovely day. He will find his forever home... but just not with cats... Hope you had a safe journey home. And thanks for your help today. Tag says... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. xx He's worn out. ;D

Some nice pics there Jenny, they make for a good looking pair of dogs Just to add my tupence worth Tag was a real pleasure to have yesterday. He is good natured, travelled well in the car with not a peep out of him the whole way, and a lovely dog to have around. But for the cat issue he could well be residing in Kent now as he's such an easy one to fall for Tag will make somebody a great pet, and hopefully that will be soon. Good luck little fella.

Well to be fair to Tag he might be, it's just that he showed a very strong chase instinct with our cats, and they decided not to hang about and find out ;D I reckon he only wants to play, but can't risk finding out.

Got a feeling Bran wasn't 100% yesterday, probably why he wasn't playing much. He was sick this morning, having eaten grass first thing, and virtually been in his bed all day, which is unlike him. So apologies to Tag.

Thanks Ros. I think he is keen when they are near enough and moving!!! Not bothered when he sees them whilst on the lead though. Tag is now into his sixth week with us, and knows the rules, knows the pecking order, knows the routine. He is changing every day, and his face is now starting to lose that squared look that he came with. His coat is the softest of any dog we have had here, and his colouring is superb. He is a big bouncy baby boy, but gets on with any breed anywhere. Just a mad pup, and a lovable one at that. Tag now runs upstairs at night after his last walk and leaps onto the bed to get his last cuddle and licks and then when everyone has had a cuddle gets down on command and stays in his bed all night. He is not food possessive, or aggressive. Can sometimes be wary of men, but is okay once they have met him. Tag doesn't like red bags or big bags. He will try to hide behind me if someone is carrying a big bag, even the postman. He is developing a lovable cheeky character and is always up for a game. Tag loves to play football and chase and catch balls. Can catch the frisbee and at dog training fetches a dumbell and presents. What can I say, a diamond of a pup, all 25 kilos of him ;D

So would you class him as Cat & Child Friendly? Casper used to be interested in our 2 cats when we first got him, after a while he worked out that they actually quite boring! Now they are the best of friends! He still shows an interest in other cats but does not much about it! Will tag be coming to the frinton walk? I would love to meet him and see if Casper likes him too! E x

Hi E, Well today proved that he is not to be trusted with cats. He has taken his lead from Megan and Sofi who absolutely hate them and hunt them with a passion. He's coming round nicely now and has just eaten some pasta and been outside for a wee. He does look so sorry for himself and all the girls are round him sniffing him and wagging. Poor mite.

He had an afternoon out with Lesley and Ian and their dog Bran, who is cat friendly, and unfortunately that made no difference. After today, I wouldn't think it at all possible.

Sorry E. For those folk who haven't been following his thread in chat, poor Tag chased after a cat with Megan yesterday and hit a set of railings with such force that his head inserted into them and he was stuck. I was a hundred feet away and couldn't get to him in time to limit the damage. He panicked and pulled himself backwards ripping the side of his face under his eye. Poor mite had an emergency op yesterday and luckily no damage to his eye. He has bounced back today and is still up for a play with Megan and Sofi. You've got to love him. Stupid, but lovely

He's doing well, although one bit is still seeping. But I'm taking no chances now, so you know the saying "wrap them up in cotton wool"!! I have. ;D

How loved is he Jenny lucky boy. Oh don't get me on it Jean. He is so loving. Took him back to the vets today and he needs another week before the stitches can come out, and then they will have to be taken out under anaesthetic because of where they are. I's not knitting too well on the last half inch And the limp was a wrenched elbow. We went to Pishiobury for our usual walk this morning and all his pals came up and sniffed and licked him. He is quite a celebrity at the park. No-one can believe we still have this lovely pup. ....................................................... I have been accused by an applicant of being fussy and having my own criteria, but each dog is assessed and the home has to fit the criteria for the dog. We do not approve of dogs being left in gardens whilst owners are out, however secure they think they are. We do not approve of dogs being left in cars whiilst the owner is shopping, never secure. Tag must live in as close part of the family. He sleeps upstairs with the rest of the pack, worries if the rest of the pack go out and leave him alone. He is fine when one of the pack are left with him. He needs a soulmate. He likes to cuddle up to Megan. He loves new challenges, and at dog training has excelled in obedience and now retrieves the dumbell and presents. He loves jumping so with his intelligence would love agility. Tag is 100% reliable off-lead and his recalls are brilliant. He is faithful and so loving. Most of all he needs a loving home with easy going dogs who won't beat him up as he gets quite scared and submissive. No cats around either... That's how poor Tag got his face ripped, chasing a cat. The loving home I would have been happy for Tag to have gone to alas had cats. So, we look again. And yes Jean, he is so loved. It is hard not to love them when you have had them for a while. It's like giving your child away, so you would only give your child away to the same environment as they are in. There is a special home out there for Tag. Someone who needs a soulmate dog, someone who has so much to give, someone who will give Tag the life he deserves. And then... he and we will be very happy.x Just a p.s. He hasn't got a bad bone in his body. He loves children, but that's not to say that he would want to be pulled about by them.

Little Tag is beginning to heal then bless him I bet everyone in the park was worried about him, I bet he will soon forget what has happened to him and will soon be chasing cats again .Jenny I don't blame you at all for accessing carefully all the homes that you get offered for rescue dogs and Tag is a smashing dog and he will make the right person/family a lovely pet. And you know best of all having fostered him what sort of home will be right for him, when the time comes. I know with Belle there was not a lot of time for accessing her as she come from the kennels more or less to me but you were just right from what you told me about her she is a lovely gentle soul, and just wants to please people all the time. How did I end up with such a loving dog. Thank you she is just the right dog for me, trouble is she loves me to much and we are still working on the separation issues. I know that it will improve and we shall get there. But at the moment especially with the move coming up I am not going to get her stressed or me, she could have had a lot worse issues so I thank my lucky stars she is the lovely dog that she is. If you still have Tag by the end of the summer I might be tempted but hopefully he will have found his forever home by then for sure.

Oh I wish it could have worked out here with us. I keep watching this thread. I just cannot believe no one is interested in him, he is so lovely. Perhaps there is a very special home waiting for him, that's why it's taking so long. We all wish him well and a speedy recovery.
