Grr - flipping roads. The RAC said 112 miles, allow 2 1/4 hours +/-, via M25 and A3. The world and his wife was on the M25, going to Chessington, Thorpe Park, Heathrow, everywhere. There were a pair of early 70s MGs following each other, so I assume there was a rally somewhere. Anyway, it took 1 1/2 hours, instead of the expected 1 to reach the A3. And that's dug up, especially around Hindhead. We got to Liphook services by 1 and left at 1.15; you'd expect a service station advertised as having toilets to have more than 1 unisex loo! The queue didn't quite get confused with the queue for the till, but it was a damn close thing. Anyway, I rang Sue and we arrived about 2 instead of 1. Sue, I hear you say. Who Sue? The proud co-owner with Pete of a young lurcher boy. They are lovely and their circumstances are the complete opposite of Honcho's - now reverted back to Shaun - previous circumstances. Shaun was with young people - Sue and Pete are retired. He used to live in a town, they spend much of the day with their horses and chickens, looking after the lambs. He was an only dog, he now has a little JRT companion. If this doesn't work out, there's no hope for the boy Anyway, we were fed ham sandwiches and homereared egg sandwiches, home cooked blackberry and apple crumble and custard and I had a wholemeal killmequick (fairy cake) - Viv was full. We then took the dogs to see the lambs. Shaun looked bemused, Jack looked hungry , Honey looked for something to roll in. We did the paperwork and made the presentation Then a snap of the new family We left at 4.30, then went back after 2 minutes because we forgot to leave the bag of Burns dogfood that Shaun had been on while staying with us. Pete heard us coming back and took the bag over the gate, then Sue and Shaun arrived. He looked at us as if to say "What are you doing here" then trotted back as Sue went back to look after the horses. I think he'll do ;D ;D We left and got home soon after 7 having gone along the M27 to Southampton to pick up the M3. The trip was about 30 miles further but was half an hour or more quicker.

Brilliant!
Thank you Sue & Pete for giving Shaun the chance of a wonderful life in the country - I'm sure that the little chap will repay your kindness many times over.
Be good Shaun, & be happy!

Fantastic. I got an email from Sue a while ago. Been waiting for John to post his first. ........................................................ Thank you all for matching us up - he is wonderful!! Such a busy day for him - he has had his dinner now and is back asleep on the sofa!! Yes please show the pictures if you would like to - John also took some doing the bag thing! but I thought you would like to see the boy at home. Little Belle is really ok with him - she will teach him the ropes but keep him in check at the same time. We already love him to bits and will keep you closely informed - with more pics as we go along love Sue And here he is, settled already..... ;D Perfect.... ;D Bookends...

Hope to pop and see you one day Me too: Shaun will need a post-rehoming visit, as of course will Bonnie & Elmer - if I get myself organised I could combine all three on the same day!
...................Is this just an excuse for a seaside jaunt with my hounds?
