It's been reach-for-the-tissues time today: Elmer has permitted me to stroke him on several occasions!!
I haven't a clue what's brought about this sudden change, but I'm chuffed to ninepence, & just pray that 'tis not just a flash in the pan.
His toiletting & destructiveness still need a lot of work, but that's normal puppy stuff - what happened today was to my mind far more important: hopefully 'tis the start of him realising that not every bloke he encounters is intent on beating the sh*t out of him.

Good thoughts for Elmer please - the little lad's having his op today. I'm hoping he won't hold the experience against his Uncle Barney.

Elmer's back from the vets & not at all groggy. I took his 'bucket' off as soon as we arrived home, as he hated it, & was obviously disorientated by it - I'll just need to watch him for worrying at his stitches.
..................he was certainly not too groggy to take an interest in Daisy!
...................or to demolish a bowlful of chicken, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
He seems absolutely fine, but I don't think he's forgiven me yet for his experience today.
Oh, & whilst at the vets he managed to chew through his 'I need a home' lead.
