thats my que for photos ...... off to tackle photobucket I picked him up from Aly at lunch time and pootled off to Annettes in Totton - we let the dogs meet outside and went for a walk. He was VERY good, walked beautifully, wasnt phased by a barking terrier, greeted dogs nicely. He was quite relaxed and happy and was laying on Annettes rug within 5 mins of being home. He met my daughter and Annettes husband with a waggy tail and a lean Underneath his shaggy soft coat he is very thin .... so Annette is going to feed him little and often for a while to help fatten him up a bit A very gentle soul, good nature ...... I will let Annette fill you in on the rest Piccies to follow .....

Great photos Kate. Shame about that woman holding the dogs!
He is a seriously gorgeous tempered dog, trusting, very affectionate, knows and obeys lots of words, not just obvious commands. He has lived in a house and been very well treated at one time. He is confident and laid-back, did not even react to some fireworks last night.
I took him on a short car trip to the horses' field last night with Dylan and played ball with them. He has a great retrieve and is very enthusiastic. He recalls well but I keep him on the 10m. training line to be safe.
He is not up to much exercise at the moment, he has obviously been very short of food for quite some time and is going to need building up slowly.
We have just had a peaceful night, no accidents, enthusiastic greetings this morning but no jumping up, perfect manners! He did make me laugh when we were watching tv, I was sitting on the floor, (husband and my two on the settee, we need another settee!). Si came and plonked his bony rear on my lap then collapsed across my legs and rolled on his back, grinning! I really must not be a failed fosterer this early but he is a dream so far.
Will keep you updated on his progress.
Annette (a very lucky fosterer) xxx

I think Annette is sticking to Simon or Si for short

Si it is I am afraid as he already answers to it but could be the beginning of quite a few names ( I am struggling to come up with a lot though!)
Si has been brilliant again today. He jumps into the car and travels like a pro. We went for a quiet walk on the Forest this morning, no pulling or barking. Siesta after lunch with one lurcher on each side of me on the bed. Off to Jollies to look for doggy goodies where he snaffled some biscuits dropped on the floor, then back home for a rest where I left him with Neil and Ollie while Dylan and I went to the field to do the horses.
He needs a bit of convincing to 'give' balls or tug-of-war toys but he is learning fast. This boy really loves to play!

I can't believe anybody would willingly give up such a dog either. He has been trained, socialised, and pampered if his familiarity with beds and sofas is anything to go by. He is absolutely perfect in the house and on the lead.
He is however all lurcher. What a dog! He is getting stronger every minute and can now hop over the nursery gate from a standstill like a yoyo! His jumps and twists after a ball also have to be seen to be believed. There is a superb athlete inside his bony frame. I can't wait for him to put weight back on, he is going to be stunning.
Kate is going to come and take some more pics I think. Watch this space!
