Dale's foster Mum is concerned that he may regress a little when he arrives here, since it has taken quite a while for him to have confidence & trust following his previous bad existence.
Dale is quite timid, & it might well be that he is best suited as an only dog, in a household with older children, but of course he will be fully assessed when he gets here.
He is not considered cat friendly, but again, that is something that we will look at closely - there are three felines living in close proximity in the home-kennel where he will be fostered.
Dale is booked into the vets for his initial checkup & to be microchipped on Thursday morning.

We've received confirmation that I'll be taking Dale into SLR's care round about 6.00 a.m. tomorrow.
'Tis also confirmed that the lad's a tad nervous, so I'll take Annie with me, since they've already experienced living together & it might help put him at ease following the disorientation he's bound to feel after his long journey.

I am sure Dale will soon be relaxing under your care Barney, and as you said he might feel more at ease if you take Annie with you. Hope the journey was not to traumatic for him.

Dale is now under SLR's wing.
He's a lovely little chap, (no more than 22" to the shoulder), very friendly, & is getting on well with the resident hounds.
Pics will follow when Photobucket maintenance is completed.

We overtook the waiting room at the vets this morning, with Shadow, Dale and Tag. Dale is gorgeous...................... deerhound x ;D Uncle Barney is trying to pull his legs at this very moment to make him a tad taller ;D Did I say, he is gorgeous.

deerhound x ;D I think that labelling Dale a Lurcher may just be stretching the point a tad!
Whatever his mix he is one lovely fella, & knowing where he came from how could we possibly refuse to take him on board? His caring foster Mum in Ireland & Celtic Animal Life Line have between them been responsible for introducing us to Bran, Annie & Bonnie - adorable hounds all of them, & so is Dale!
If you didn't, then you certainly should have done, Mummy Chook!
This is the boy himself this morning, experiencing the usual mummying that Winnie bestows on all new arrivals:
Dale exploring his new surroundings:
With his old pal Annie:
& on a walk at North Weald after having his initial checkup & being chipped at the vets:
Dale received a clean bill of health from the vet, apart from a build-up of wax in his ears, for which we will administer the appropriate treatment.
First impressions are that Dale possesses a lovely temperament, he's mixing well with t'other residents, is good on the lead, & travels well in the car.
There have been no negatives thus far, & he is an absolute joy to have in the home-kennel.

We had Shadow at the vets for second jabs. Dale is a very good looking and patient boy - or at least with Fidget and Tag he might have been just overwhelmed. He might have been on boil watch wash though, as he's quite short legged (compared with Murphy, for instance)

He looks a poppet! There's something of the terrier about him as well as something deerhound-y. Isn't Winnie looking sexy! Cor...

What a cutie he looks smaller than he did in his original photos, I am sure he will soon be chilled out and relaxed like the other hounds,

He looks a poppet! He is indeed Jules - & a real character!
We were prepared for a difficult time with him, as the theory was that he's terrified of men. Well, forget that - he's been attached to me like my shadow: when he's not lying next to me in the office he's either following me around or nudging me for more cuddles.
He's getting on very well with t'others too - no hint of any conflict.
Yup - his mix is, um, interesting! ;D It's been suggested that he might have some Briard in him, some Beardie, some Deerhound, some Fox Terrier, some Spaniel...................... We'll never know, of course, but whatever, we've officially designated him an Honorary Lurcher.
