He's very good company, but not in your face at all. We had another walk round the allotments this morning, very enjoyable, then I had to go to the village coffee morning and then watched the racing. He pottered about quite happily, ate all his breakfast. Then around 3.30 he started to nag me a little - just nose pushes and tail wags and the odd 'chirrup' - for a proper walk. So we set to the other side of the village, and arrived in the summer sheep field which is all fenced in. I needn't have worried! He thoroughly enjoyed having his freedom but didn't go far from me, and kept looking round to make sure I was still in sight. He just loved all the rabbit smells, of course! On return he wolfed down the special food Jenny had given us, wiped his nose with gusto on his new basket (and my legs!) and stood and watched me make a fire. He also spent time in his new basket - a first. Now he's back on the sofa. Some pix from the walk - not terrific light. I think he was a bit overwhelmed by all the open space! - and nervous of getting lost. He'll be fine once he's got his bearings, and his confidence. As you can see, he was no problem at all! First few minutes off the lead... Telling them he lives here now He's not quite so far off as it appears.... but it is a huge field! Working the hedge... lots of rabbit burrows along here We get down towards the bottom of the field, where the big warrens are - he's not sure where to start! A little run around! - then 'Let's go home now, I'm hungry!'

O Kaaayyyy...... Rory making himself at home, Days Two and Three.... I went into the kitchen to make my brunch yesterday, and when I re-emerged, I found he'd completely rearranged the sofa: he'd made a nest and taken over! My mac iBook is somewhere under the big cushions to the left on the sofa, btw ;D that's supposed to be MY seat Note the expression "Wot me?" ... followed by the utter insouciance of the very relaxed! That didn't take long... This evening while I was making my supper, he chose to get bit closer to the fire, so he climbed into the big basket. This used to belong to my collie cross - I bought it in London many years ago and could never bear to part with it (in around ten house moves since!). He had no idea I was taking these pics btw - he was out for the count. As you can see I've not yet re-sewn the velvet cushion cover - when I've done that the big furry rug goes on top, with the little green top rug too (that gets tucked round him). and the whole lot will probably go back upstairs (where the staffie was using it, in my bedroom)

Oh yes... he does love a cuddle! and lots of ear scritching and neck fondling
He's very miffed though that my bed is just a bit too tall for him to jump onto, with his slightly stiff back legs ... he's threatened to try several times, and it's only a matter of time before he makes the effort! Meanwhile he looks beseechingly from the bed to me...
He's really very good in the morning though - never wakes or gets up til I do. I must get the bigger bed up there today though - he always spends part of the night out of his basket stretched out on the floor, maybe he needs more space!

The pics are great Sara, think thats where he is really happy out in the fields. He does like to strech out, sometimes by the end of the evening, he would have all the sofa with me stuck on the end lol :)

Yes, you MUST get your bigger bed up for little Rory to make him just a bit more comfy. I wonder if we we beginning to see you displaying the first signs of "Lurcher slavery"?! ;D;) Viviane. X
