Hi all,
Just a quick update on Molly (Pino) who joined us yesterday! I'm new on the blog and will probably be writing on behalf of my parents (as I'm not sure they will work out how to do it!)......First of all thank you so much Jodie for looking after such a wonderful dog, and to SLR for saving her!
We have decided to rename her Pino (after Pinocchio as she has the world's biggest shnozzle - and not after pinot grigio even though she is the same colour as a good glass!). I think to dogs Molly would have sounded the same as Mari (my mother's name) which would have been confusing! She arrived at home after a good walk, and was very interested in her new environment. She was, understandably, a little taken aback to be in a whole new place with a new family, and so shied away from Charlie's advances for a play in the garden. She settled down quickly indoors though, and went straight to sleep!
When we put the dogs to bed in the kitchen though, she wasn't too happy and cried for quite a while - and it was terribly painful to ignore but we had to as she gets used to her new routine. Charlie and Pino seemed to have had a chat and sorted out their differences overnight though, as after their walk this morning she was a whole new dog! They had their first good play in the garden, and knackered themselves out completely! They then had a good sunbathe, and cuddled up together (more that Charlie was resting his bum and legs on her but she is so patient she didn't mind at all!)
They are now both lying at my feet as I type this, exhausted! She has been so sweet-natured so far, and very patient with Charlie who is a bit of a space-invader. Such a lovely dog! We do need to work on the separation anxiety though- Charlie went for a swim in the pond after their play, so when I took him round to the front for less than a minute to rinse him off with fresh water she erupted with howling and crying. I think when she settles down properly in a few weeks we will see how much of that is just because she is unsettled and how much we need to work on...
When I work out how to post pictures (any tips would be much appreciated!), I will upload some of them so far!
Thanks!

Lovely to read she is finally home. Jodie did a fantastic job and I'm sure it won't take long to get her settled and sort the separation anxiety out. It is always easier when they have a playmate. Get them established first and then start to leave her a little at a time. A crate is a great assett, and just leaving her in a crate with a favourite chew or a stuffed kong in view of you in the garden for 10 minutes and build it up to going out of sight and longer. Any probs at all we are always here to help xx

Thanks for the update! I was resisting calling you! She took a little while to settle with me but soon came around. I'm sure it won't take her long. I hope she hasn't been countersurfing! Keep me updated on my big nose! ;D I like the name and hope she picks it up quickly. I'm so glad your happy with her. I put photos on Photobucket then copy IMG code and paste. Took me months to work that out!

Brilliant pics - well done for getting the hang of it. Pino is a great name. Nice to have something a little different, and with a story behind it. ;D The dogs look very happy together.

Hello all!
Pino seems to have settled a bit more and is an absolute angel when we are with her during the day. However her night howling hasn't improved (also relevant during the day but we haven't really left her for more than two or three seconds). On the second night I don't think she actually stopped all night, and last night there wasn't really a break either.
We have been trying to close doors for a second or two behind us (as she follows us all around the downstairs rooms) and then coming back through before she cries, and I know it takes a while but we haven't made any progress... The dogs are getting grumpy from their lack of sleep (they have had a few fights), and as it is so loud you can hear it clearly outside, so I'm pretty sure she is keeping the whole street up let alone us!
Any ideas what to do? I know that you need to take it slowly, that it takes time and to work up from being a few seconds apart and then return before she starts howling, then gradually increase the time etc. However that doesn't take away from the fact that she goes the whole night with Charlie downstairs overnight, so our efforts during the day are being hindered. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks!

My Suzy cried all night long for the first three nights! But it does get better! It slowely went down to a couple of cries a night and in the end was sleeping through til 6.30 each day. Nowadays I have trouble getting her out of bed in the morning!! I'm sure Jenny has given you the advice you need but I found a radio on low and a little light left on helped her to feel more secure
