Our Little Man stayed with my Dad today as me & Mum took the girls to the New Forest for the SLR walk. Dad reported that Victor was very good but he found he had a shadow most of the day!! Victor has had a bit of a grotty bot and the last couple of days we have seen an increase in his water intake. Will be keeping a close eye on him!!

Grotty bot gone, but still drinking quite a bit - doesn't help hubby keep turning the blimin heating up full pelt Victor continues to be my ickle shadow and I end up now having to pop him behind the dog gate so that I can get on and do things around the rest of the house without him under my feet!! He is going to the vets on the 14th for his first (again) vaccination and to have some plaque scraped off a few of his teeth, they are hoping to do this without the need of any sedation. Luffs him v. much, thank you Mummy Chook for allowing him to stay with us. I will make sure he will want for nothing for the rest of his days

He may be old but by heck he is getting more and more feisty!! Today Victor had a blue merle collie by the scuff of her neck!! I was so busy telling Ginny to back off, that I wasn't paying enough attention to Victor (he was on lead) and next minute I know he is really going for it. Luckily he didn't draw blood but it was really nasty though.

OMDogness Rachel, you really didn't need that I have everything crossed that this is simply Victor going through a settling in phase and that his inter-dog manners will be impeccable from now on in Hugest hugs and gentlest ear ruffles Audrey x

Victor is definitely needing some firm talking to and the moment, he is desperate to get at other dogs, makes these really loud funny whinny noises!! Doesn't help when Ginny takes a dislike as well but I think they are feeding off each other!! He is definitely pushing some boundaries and trying to be dominant, he knows when he has done wrong as he sits down and bows his head! A firm approach is needed at the moment and I am going through all the "procedures" that I had to do with Ginny with him. Oh joy! Still luffs him though

;)If I were you Rachel, I would walk him separately so that Ginny doesn't re-learn bad habits. And I would get a halti for him so that you can steer his head round to look at you when he kicks off.
There's life in that old dog yet!

Thanks Jenny, good suggestion about the halti. We usually do walk them seperately on lead walks, it is just when we go to the fields that I take them altogether. The girls can run around like loons and me and Victor can take a more sedate pace!!

We used Ginny's canny collar on Victor this morning and it made a great difference , so we will try him a few more times and if it seems to work then we will get another one for Victor.

Here are some photos of the gorgeous ickle man: As per the other thread started, we have had to make the decision that Victor would be better off as either an only dog or with another dog nearer his own age. We really wanted Victor to stay with us, but he is becoming upset when our girls barge into him and he needs a more peaceful home. We need to do what is best for him rather than what we want. On Sunday I took Victor to the Manor Farm SLR walk and we met with Nanette & David (naners) and I have a feeling they may have fallen for Victors charms because they have offered to give Victor his forever home ;D All being well Victor will be going to his new home on the 9th April. We are so going to miss him but we know in our hearts it is the right decision especially as him and Millie went at each other last night but luckily no blood shed - all noise I think! P.S. Tried Victor with a raw chicken wing today and he loved it!!

Looking forward to having him with us on April 9th. ;D Seeing as he will be the only dog, it will definitely be quiet. We've got a doggie bed ready and waiting for him. Wonder if he'll be David's shadow and spend most of the day in the office while he works or if he'll prefer to lie in the sun...whenever it decides to come out and play again?
