Dill is in Dorset with his owners at the present time. A loving kind family but they never had a lurcher before and have found Dill's bin raiding, thieving and counter-surfing too much for them to handle. In his owner's words, he is a lovable rogue, but we don't have the resolve to handle it anymore. He is very faithful, doesn't try to escape, gets on with the cat to a degree, is good off lead, but a wilful young dog in the home. He is 9 months old and at the puppy chewing stage, He has not been crated as a pup and so investigates anything he wants to, but secretly when no-one is looking. Dill is a very intelligent dog. Approx 26 at the shoulder. He is neutered, vaccinated and all treatments up to date. With the right training to deal with his counter-surfing/stealing Dill will be a credit to lurchers. Dill is the litter brother of Ben, who we rehomed for another rescue in November. Ben is doing wonderfully well under the watchful eye of older sibling of the family Sam, the G.S.D. ;D All enquiries through Southern Lurcher Rescue please. All prospective homes will be vetted and home-visited.

Rachel, Dill's owner, and I have been going through the various options in sorting out this counter-surfing problem. Piri Piri sauce was not strong enough, so Rachel has some strong carribean sauce which seems to have affected the parts other sauces can't He actually decided not to eat a roll today as the sauce was just toooooo hot! Rachel is very busy this afternoon painting all likely targets with the hot sauce. Boobing traps are being laid in cupboards and handles painted. As Rachel has said in her own words, he is not a bad lad, a lovable rogue.

THINK WEST HAM SHOULD PLAY THIS BOY UP FRONT I LIKE HIS BALL CONTROL COME ON YOU IRONS. The Greyhounds might at times appear lazy, but the Department of Homeland Security has reason to believe that they are simply storing energy, so that when the time comes, they will be ready to launch their world domination plot. When the Greyhounds take over the world, will you be spared as one of "the lucky ones?"

When the Greyhounds take over the world, will you be spared as one of "the lucky ones?" Do get real Keith!
You must surely realise by now that Lurchers rule the world, & that Greyhounds are tolerated & accepted merely because of their close family ties?
My own two Greys are happy to be considered honorary Lurchers. ;D ;D ;D

Sorry Keith, hard to believe,l but Dill IS a lurcher ;D He is litter brother to Ben who we had here with SLR and rehomed in November. Don't worry Keith, once you start fostering them, you will be able to recognise a lurcher ;D

An update from Rachel, Dill's mum. ..........................................................................
Dill's greeting is lovely - when we come home or downstairs in the morning he just comes and stands near us (and then he gets loads of fuss) as he knows he will be ignored otherwise - this only took him a couple of days to learn (although occasionally he forgets himself) - he really is a very clever boy. Part of us likes the excited greeting but calm is better for visitors especially when they are not dog lovers! How clever is Dill? well when I set a food trap he doesn't go anywhere near it unless I go and sit on the desk chair because it creaks when you stand up so he can hear me when I get up to spy on him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As to the lock on Dill's thread, yes please do - we are back into doggy zone and he's not going anywhere! I like the football comments, Chester supports West Ham so he's well chuffed. Maisie sounds and looks gorgeous, very diddi - I measured Dill yesterday and he now stands at 26 inches! so much for a whippet cross but I prefer bigger dogs so am happy. Thank you again for all your kind words, I shall keep you posted - hopefully will have something good to report on his relationship with my cat soon.
..........................
All I can say is RESULT..... We look forward to your updates Rachel and a walk one day with the lovely mischeivious Dill.

Thank you for your kind words, but especially you Jenny for all your kind support anad advice as I don't know where we would be or rather where Dill would be without your help. Everyday he is more settled and is even starting to lick Fig (our cat) nicely - unless he's just testing to see if he would make a good meal!!! Rx Oh and Jenny half term went really well and the boy and Dill have bonded, even falling in the river together yesterday. x

We've just returned from our walk, Dill is still exhausted from yesterday and he barely left our sides even though off the lead and as free as a bird! Now collapsed out flat on his cushion. Bless. More piccies will come. I've heard of hot dog but hot cat??? hmm x
