Message from lil Lupin So glad Junior is whippetying Jacki into shape ;D and will no doubt have her trained up in no time! Has he mentioned that roast beef and fresh line caught tuna can be quite acceptable as an addition to smoked salmon?

Has he mentioned that roast beef and fresh line caught tuna can be quite acceptable as an addition to smoked salmon? He was in fact quite amenable to a bit of roast beef, (my favourite nosh), during his sojourn here. ;D

He tells me he has had such offers before and they invariably turn out to be one of those special "Two for One Deals" - you know, for one day only not only will we chew your roast beef for you but we will SWALLOW it as well. He says thanks but no thanks.

Two weeks now and progress is being made.
Joe (as Junior now likes to be known) has cottoned on to the fact that all this “Oh Barney wouldn’t say that”, “Oh Barney always allowed this”, is checkable, and so has changed his tune. It’s no longer “Saint Barney” that is the authority for whatever he wants to do, it’s now “traditional whippet custom” or “ancient lore among us whippets”.
Otherwise he is the sweetest, gentlest little dog you could find. If ever he gets really annoyed with me the worst he ever does is throw Sean the Sheep out of his bed. That’s meant to teach me a lesson! On walks if he comes up against an aggressive or over-friendly dog he just totally ignores them, obviously on the basis that if they are not there they can’t do him any damage. This morning a c**k pheasant sauntered across in front of us and continued his leisurely stroll along the field. Joe’s only reaction was a brief admiring glance, along the lines of “that’s a goodlooking bird, what glossy plumage!” before he resumed his grass-sniffing. He’s been off the lead in the fields now a few times and we’ve somehow (thank God) managed to reunite before getting back to the lane.
I’d like to thank you all for your support and good wishes – in return the best I can wish you is that you have as much delight with your hound as I do with mine.

what wonderfull news about joe, it is so good to hear he is behaving himself OFF lead aswell as on , what a little cracker he is, as for the pheasant what a good boy to ignor it, unfortunatly my two would have looked at that with very diffrent eyes, well lenny any way as i had been told bits of his previous life in the rescue centre which was that he had killed one of there chickens and started to pluck it ready for supper, please keep his weekly up dates coming as it is so nice to hear how his personality is developing.

That's another apology I owe you Jacki - it really was very remiss of me not to warn you that when he sets his mind to it Joe can be a very devious dog! ;D ;D ;D

I've been having a bad few days, and have been looking for some photos of the dogs we have helped. Joe was one special little fighter, and reading and seeing his story again has just nailed back into place what we are all about. Thank you Joe for putting me back on track. You will aways be remembered, and you were truly loved.

When he died, he was missed almost as much by friends and neighbours as he was by me. Without you and SLR, what would his last days have been like? And how would he have died? Certainly not in the arms of someone who loved him, with memories of squirrel chasing in the woods and ambling through buttercup meadows. Please never forget that. Jacki
