Eddie was rehomed via another Rescue worker last year. He didn't actually come into SLR but we agreed to take him under our wing. Eddie can be nervy, and is a home loving dog. He is cat friendly and is living with a cat at present.
Eddie has been a lovely dog until last week when he bit the daughter of the family after she stepped on him.
This has now unnerved the daughter, who is only 4, and the family, and has also unnerved Eddie.
Herewith a statement from his current Adopters.
He is a lovely lovely dog and just needs the right home environment.
........................
Eddie is the sweetest natured dog and is an incredibly easy dog to have around. He is not remotely demanding, will sleep the day away, has no food aggression, loves cuddles and fuss, is best buds with the cat and walks very well both on lead and off the lead with perfect recall. In fact, apart from an initial mad dash, he always stays right on your heels, so much so that you’re tripping over him half the time!
Even though Eddie has been with us for over a year, he still has a very nervous disposition, which I suppose is just his nature. Any kind of noise freaks him out, but especially skateboards for some reason. He seems to be able to hear them from miles away and literally bolts home and just waits by the front door panting until we get back.
Inside the house we haven’t been able to fault him, apart from a recent incident with our youngest. She accidentally stepped on his paw when trying to walk passed him on the landing and he snapped and bit her. Even though he has shown no signs of aggression towards the children before, I feel his general nervousness means he should be homed without children, or at least without young children.
He was quite fussy with food with us to start with and we unfortunately had to change the Burns food which everyone rates so highly because he just wasn’t eating it. So he now eats Bakers mixed with Chappie and although he loves it, he doesn’t eat the greatest of quantities and could probably still do with an extra couple of kilos. He loves his biscuits in the morning and a piece of cheese at bedtime.
He loves his walks, but is also not fussed about staying indoors if the weather is awful. I am normally at home, but there have been a few occasions when we have been out for the day and he has happily been left for about 6 hours. We have never crated him, but he has a bed in the kitchen where he stays when we go out and also at night time, which he is more than happy with.
Ed is a fragile soul who just loves the quiet life. He adores similar sized dogs, but is not keen on jumpy dogs and will have a growl if they push their luck, apart from if you constantly say the words ‘be nice’ funnily enough. I feel Ed could happily be an only dog or have a friend around. He is most definitely cat friendly too.
