Sadly, Mair has emailed this week to say that little Munch is not responding to treatment and has had a set-back. The Vets feel that the operation was not a success again and have now come to the sad decision that the leg will have to be amputated. Mair is naturally very upset and worried. SLR will be paying for the operation as Munch is a sponsored for life dog for her leg. The operation will take place this Thursday. So please please keep little Munch in your thoughts for Thursday. There is only the slightest chance that they will save the leg, and will make the decision whilst she is under anaesthetic.

I hope no-one takes this the wrong way, but sometimes when a dog has had trouble with a limb for some considerable time, amputation really is a positive thing. I know several people with lurcher tripods, and they cope amazingly well. As of course we all know from the gorgeous Ruby on here! So I hope whatever the outcome that little Munch makes a speedy recovery and has no further problems with that leg.

Mair, munch will be absolutely fine. As with Morgan he'd been on 3 legs for so long he coped brilliantly as was much better off without it. He was scheduled to go in on a thursday morning, I dropped him off and went to work. What a long day that was! I went to pick him up at 6 pm and they bought him out, he was pleased to see me anyway. I was shocked at how much his stump was swollen but he was ok and jumped into the car He slept for most of that night, waking at around 1am so I gave him a painkiller and he settled again. After that night he was absolutely fine, he was allowed 10 mins on lead everyday for 10 days until the stitches were out then he could run free for the first time in 2 years. He managed the stairs no problem and was more than happy on 3 legs. Its almost 3 years since his op and he still runs about like a loon! A few pics as promised. First day at home, note the swelling, Couple of days later he was playing in the garden Video the day he had stitches out First big walk off lead Playing in the meadow, see how he can spin ;D I hope this has helped you Mair, Munch will amaze you, I'll be thinking of you both on thursday

I've just heard from Munch. The Vet has decided that he would like to see if he can correct the surgery. He wants to give it a go and then give her a month to see if it has worked. He opened her up he's found he could solve the problems he saw in the x-ray. So Mair is going to collect her at 6pm tonight & we'll be giving it another month.... fingers, toes & paws crossed! We do hope that this will be the case, but if it isn't then Mair knows that amputation is the only option.

Hi stars Well the brave little soldier is home again & seems to be doing very well considering what she's just been through, yet again :-\ She's hardly whining at all plus is even putting her special leg down already (not weight bearing of course). The difference from the last operation is quite astounding & in a very positive way She's also demolished most of her dinner & seems to be settling down on her double futon already! Thank you all so much for your kind words & support. And extra special thanks to Bernice for those most excellent videos, what a star Morgan is :-) Biggest love & woofs from me & stoical little hound M&M xx

Nice to hear it all went well for Munch today lots of love and kisses to the brave little girl. Lets hope this will be the answer for her and the poor little mite won't have to under go any more surgery. Love the Morgan photos and can vouch for his mobility after walking with him be it a good while ago now, he is no different from any hound as far as mobility goes. ;)And probably faster then some. ;D Munch has obviously ended up with the best mum in the world.

She's such an inspirational little hound, taking all this in her stride (every pun intended) and still being a happy, smiley, loving pupster Everything crossed at the MaD House that it really is third time lucky for little Munch.
