How can those people look at themselves in the mirror when they treat others like that.
If your basement falls through (not literally obvs), PM me. I have a two bedroom flat in Cambridgeshire (about 10 miles north of Cambridge) which needs some work so is without tenants at the moment (left in a bit of a state by last tenants too) but I take both benefits claimants and pets, but only very small garden.
Oh how i wish i'd posted to Munch's thread earlier & not waited until we had somewhere to live again! i've had to sign a 12-month tenancy, after having to hand over a huge deposit (due to having the two pooches) & was also required to get my remaining aged parent to go guarantor too - places accepting benefit & hounds really are like hen's teeth round here! And i sadly lost any right to social housing again, as i gave up my/our tenancy "voluntarily" when we moved down to cariad Cymru. Doh! So we're unfortunately well & truly stuck here 'til the end of February 2016 :-(
BUT at that point we'd be very, very available to rent somewhere that'd accept us all to live, & preferably for the long-term, as a permanent, safe & secure home really does seem to be beyond my grasp (no joke, it's the 3rd time that i've been made homeless in my life now!? Not counting the privately rented properties i've done up over the years, only to lose them as the agency or landlord realise they can now up the rent to silly levels or sell it completely - you think i'd learn wouldn't you?). However, i do need the place i'm living in to be clean, warm & dry, & if i can achieve this, then i usually do! The current delightful property needs some serious structural repairs done though & i've never done any roofing... yet, lol.
Thanks loads for lifting our day supportive & lovely lurchery ones! :-) xXx
ps. Shan't pass on your kind offer zephyrspal, as the hounds would probably both lynch me!? :-\ If it's still available next year though...? ;-)
Make sure you remember to ask when you are next looking - I have been renting it out since 1997 so no intention of selling - its my pension (I used to live there). I long for a long term tenant. There are two flats in a converted victorian house. In general, I charge a rent slightly lower than the market rate and ask for 1.5 months months deposit, no admin fees etc. I try hard to be a good landlord and flexible as this is going to be the tenant's home.
But good luck in your new home - I hope it works out for you.
Oh Mair what an awful time you've been having I hope when this tenancy is up you find somewhere lovely (maybe Philippa's) if that's meant to be. Huge hugs and blessings
Sorry for delayed posting, has been a rather bad year (or more). Hounds are both great though, bless 'em.
Dozer has had his head lump removed, as he also started growing another on his left hind leg (which you can see in the pic), so the local vet took both of them off. Relieved to say that there was nowt sinister! Munch's suffering from the damp but is on double dose glucosamine, so we're getting there...
This is a pic of the pair of silvering hooligans after a run in a local field :-)
Things can only get better Mair. Hopefully you will find a couple of members up your way to meet up with. I hope you can find the source of those little growths that Dozer gets. Re - insurance. It pays to shop around. We were with more than for two years and that suddenly went up, so we changed to Tesco. But keep an eye out for any deals. Pets at Home were doing one recently. Do you have to keep Munch with the same Company? xxx
Sorry for the lack of updates but there’s been very little good news to report, so thought I’d instead post that video I took of the pair of little loons when we had the first snow in Swansea back in 2013 (& I’d thankfully cleared the garden of the 2 centuries of domestic landfill by then, for them to then safely continue shaping & building it into their own personal race track, lol).
Sorry it’s uneditted/too long & thus with sounds of shuffling/giggling mobile phone operator in background & Munch’s “pee’d off” end frame, lol. Dozer had finally given up on her (worn himself out, lol) at this point & retired indoors to dry out & warm up - it was such an out of character thing for him to have been doing (hence why i’d started videoing), as Munch usually leads the “chase me” game & himself is most definitely not usually a fan of either the cold or wet (unlike the current local drainage ditch swimming/running/leaping enthusiast?!).
All paws & fingers are firmly crossed that we’ll be heading back up into the mountains & away from these cold, damp & soulless flatlands soon though. Gutted to say that it’s to yet another property that nobody else in their right mind would rent (if they had the choice) but praying that its elevated location should at least balance things out nicely for the long-suffering wee lurchers, love them :-) Happier & healthier times are just around the corner I hope!
Bless them, Dozer is sucha lovable lump. The day Jules and I collected him he was all over us, sitting on us. He is so lovely. Munch is looking so fit. They are a credit to you Mair. I don't think it was a long video. It made me smile so much. One can never see enough of hound playxx
