Thinking of you, Jo, and how hard it must have been for you to let them go............. However, you did the right decision for them, you had their best interests at heart and we hope it is of some consolution to you knowing they are going to be very much loved hounds........... Viviane. X

Hello Everyone,
Daisy & Dave sooned settled down on the journey home and we met up with Nicks' sister and her adorable brown labrador, Fella, for a good long run. We found that if we called Daisy she would come running with Dave soon behind her.
Jo Said that Dave "liked men" and that certainly seems to be true. Nick went out on Saturday evening and Dave looked and waited for some time before settling down with me and when Nick went off to work this morning Dave started moaning in protest.
We initially thought that Dave was the confident one and Daisy the shy one, but we're not so sure as she wants to wade into ponds with swans and seems to lead Dave astray.
The brother and sister duo clearly love each other and we're delighted that we've been able to offer a home to them both.
We can only imagine how awful and hard it must have been for Jo to have to make the decision to rehome these lovely hounds but I hope she can take some comfort in knowing that we will love and cherish them and I think they will be thoroughly fussed and pampered - not only by us but by all they meet; they certainly seem to be getting lots of attention.
We'll keep you up-dated on their progress and hopefully have some pictures for you soon.
Thank you to all at SLR for all your hard work and for finding us this lovely pair.
Dawn, Nick, Daisy & Dave xXx

We've been out lots enjoying the snow as Daisy & Dave love it. Fella has been joining us too so we think we will soon have a much slimmer labrador. They all get on well and Dave seems to have taken a particular liking to Fella; he greeted him like an old friend. It's lovely to see Daisy and Dave chasing each other and having fun. Fella doesn't join in with this - he's use to a slower pace of life and probably thinks they're mad.
We've taken quite a few 'photo's so I'll download them onto the computer and pick out the best ones. I'm afraid I've no idea how to use or create a photobucket account. I will investigate it and have a go but may well need some help or guidance, so thanks very much for your offer of help.
At present Daisy is asleep on my feet (better than a hot water bottle) and Dave is stopping us getting out of the door (great excuse for not washing up!). I think we may have tired them both out (temporarily).
Will write more soon. X

Hello Everyone,
Just thought you might like an update. Daisy and Dave have settled in really well and we're all getting into a routine. Daisy DOES NOT like the rain but Dave doesn't seem to mind too much. However, they flatly refused to go into the garden on Monday when it was hammering down and we waited until it had stopped raining today before braving it. When they do get wet they absolutely love being towel dried and push each other out of the way to be first. They also love to be brushed, thank goodness, otherwise we'd have two very mucky, scruffy hounds at the moment.
Daisy caught a field mouse the other morning but it got away unharmed. She has also stood up to a swan - backed up by brother Dave who is VERY protective of her.
I must admit that our first few weeks were a little nerve racking; I worried that they would run off and get lost or not come back when I called but I'm learning to trust them much more now and realise that although they have their mad moments they are much smarter than we might have thought. In fact I think they deliberately run off and hide sometimes knowing that when they come back when I call them they will get a treat!
I do the majority of the walking with them at the moment so Nick is not quite so relaxed with them as I am. Yesterday he disappeared into the undergrowth after them and Daisy, Dave and I ended up waiting for him to come back! I think he realises that he can't keep up with them speed wise and says he's too old to jump ditches and wade into ponds after them when they clearly don't need any assistance and are just having a lovely lurcher time.
They really are a joy. Everyone we meet remarks on them and says what gorgeous hounds they are. They are very sociable and love being with Fella too.
Despite saying they were not going to be allowed on the furniture Nick and Daisy now fight for a place on the sofa and Daisy invariably wins. At night they (Daisy and Dave NOT Daisy and Nick) seem to take it in turns to sit in our bedroom; soon after we turn off the light they then go into their own bed as though checking we have really gone to bed; It seems as though whoever is on duty out of the two reports back to the other one and they are then settled for the night.
We're so pleased we were able to give both of them a home; I can't imagine how they would have coped if they had been split up. Daisy may have managed better on her own than Dave as on a couple of occasions we have left them with Nick's sister (and fella) for a few hours. Daisy settles herself on Fellas' bed and Dave plays with his toys but after a while, when he realises we've gone out without him, he does a bit of singing! He is getting better though.
Well, that's all for now. We've seen your lovely Deerhound, Ellie. I'm sure you'll have no trouble re-homing her - but if you do......
Jenny, thank you for putting the photo's of our two beauties on the site for us.
Bye for now The 3 "D's" and Nick X

I love these doggies and it is so lovely to hear how they are getting on. How fantastic you were able to home them together - they are obviously thriving and Fella sounds like he has found 2 great playmates as well!
Please keep the updates going as it is so lovely to hear about progress made.
Sally x
