Poor little lady........ However, she did have a very special guardian angel who made sure she would arrive at the very best rescue there is and she soo deserves it. Look forward to her piccies later. Viviane. X

Aww, she's gorgeous. If I didn't already have my hands full with Moss I'd snap her up in a second. I bet she'll be a lovely dog once she's settled into a loving home.

What a terrible shame this older lady was found in such a condition. At least she will now have the best care possible and get lots of love from everyone. So nice of the holding kennels to donate towards vet bills! Hope she's settling in, she looks so sweet. x

You know I try to stay upbeat and concentrate on what's right with the world but ............... just occassionally it's really tough to do. This is one of those times Yup - goodness knows we encounter similar cases only too often, but Esme is one of the lucky ones, having landed in the hands of folks who genuinely care, & have taken the trouble to contact SLR to hopefully ensure that the lovely lass has a bright future. .

Looking at her teets, I would say that she was firstly a working whippet, and then a breeding bitch and has gone baron. Just bloody angry that these owners release them to fend for themselves instead of contacting a rescue to help them. Little Esme has had Salmon steak and rice at 5 p.m. and she will have some Burns kibble and minced lamb at 7.30 p.m. 4 small meals today. She jumped out of the car this evening and walked towards the house. All the hounds have accepted her. She is having a little lie down in the kitchen with Mims.

Dont't worry too much about the money, Jenny (although I do realise it is a worry, of course). Please listen, mummy chook, if you and uncle Barney give the "go ahead" we can still do another "Meet and Greet" at Pets @ Home either in Portsmouth or in Chichester on 12. December. It will be the LAST opportunity before Christmas, so please say "yes." I am sure we will be able to raise the money to fund little Esme's operations, we WILL. Viviane. X

I am going to do everything I possibly can to help Esme is just like my Sammy and it has brought back the pain and hurt of what people are capable of. Little Esme is going to recover and learn to love, hug and play again as we have seen what the power of love and healing can do. She can come and live her days out here with us Love Gilly x

Fantastic, Kate!! But we do need mummy Chook's and uncle Barney's approval first........... I am just going to use my initiative and start a new thread on the forum: "Little Esme's appeal - please help!" Viviane. X (Me thinks: Hope I won't get a good telling off for doing this..... but its all for little Esme.)

Fantastic, Kate!! But we do need mummy Chook's and uncle Barney's approval first........... Sorry for the delay in responding to your original request Viviane, but Mummy Chook & myself are currently even more up to our necks in muck & bullets than usual, especially Jenny, with ops & foster homes for Alfie & Esme to organise, Mim's ear problem, deep concern over Miss Elly's condition, prospective dogs coming into the rescue, adoption requests to consider, home visit reports to review, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum!!
We're very much aware that we always appear to be appealing for funds to help SLR's efforts for hounds in need, & we're eternally grateful for the wholehearted support of our members, but 'tis a fact of life that without this we just couldn't operate. We naturally welcome any initiative that assists our ongoing work, so please proceed with your plans Viviane, whilst noting that we do have a lot on our plates at the moment.

So sorry folks, yes please to the Meet and Greet, I will advise Head Office. Esme has an absess on her left canine that has blown up one side of her muzzle. I need to get at least half a kilo on her before Sunday so she is on four meals a day. She is an absolute poppet. She sleeps so well and loves the camp bed in our bedroom. This little girlie is adorable. She just wants to be loved. I am sure that her foster mum Vaila will love her to bits when she gets there next week. Barney and I have received some lovely donations for Esme and we will start up an Esme fund so that she can be sponsored for life like Elly has been and Joe was. We have been lucky with Elly, that she has had good health and it is just her legs and muscles that have wasted. I really am sorry that I haven't posted any photos but this week has been a catch up week and supporting the new adopters, who are all doing wonderfully well. A hard and emotional week and next week will be more so..
