As I'll be having a couple of canine visitors from tomorrow, Cai has this afternoon gone to stay with Max, Maisie, & Uncle Andrew for a while. Except that his correct mode of address is not 'Uncle Andrew,' but 'Pack Leader' - I like his style! If I attempted to call myself Pack Leader, my lot would fall about laughing!

Cai has been here for three days now and after howling/crying for the first afternoon seems to have settled relatively well. He got on well with both Max and Maisie and has been happy on his walks. Cai now responds to my recall well enough so I have been letting him off the lead without any great fear.
He is not as fast as Maisie nor Max, but the three of them do love the chase. Cai has shown some agression towards and Rottweiler who lives a few doors away so there may be some history with a rottweiler/doberman in his past.

I'm glad to hear Cai's settling in well. He does love to run. Him and Fionn used to race around for ages, but he never could keep up with Fionn, bless him I miss him round here, it's so quiet

more room in the inn ;D keithx I'm afraid not buddy - Andrew very kindly helped us out of a fostering crisis, but he needs to concentrate on fully integrating the lovely Maisie to his home-kennel with as few distractions as possible, so we won't be calling on his fostering services again until the time is right.

I should be able to get them sorted within a couple of months, so watch this space [well, not this one as it is for Cai, but watch somewhere ] some news: Suzanna met and loved Cai pretty much from the off. We all went for a walk over (what I know as) Harlow common out the back of Church Langley and as usual there were horses. Now, Max knows that they are not to be played with (sometimes with a gentle reminder) but this time when Cai went to play with a horse, Max herded him away from the horse. I was so pleased and proud. Also, Suzanna made a big deal about the fact that Cai is too thin. Now usually Cai would finish his meals last, since "hearing" the comments about him being too thin Cai has finished his meals first and and has come to me asking for more food. They're not daft, these lurchers. The three of them playing:

Great news, and well done Max for keeping him away from the horses! He was pretty thin when he came to us, last time he was weighed which was quite a few weeks back he had put on 3kg, so was up to 26kg, I think. Hopefully he'll put on some more if he's still looking underweight. How's his coat coming along? Has he shed all his puppy fur yet?

I weighed him a couple of days back and he is up to about 27kg. And he still has a fair amount of his puppy fur.
(slightly off topic but: Maisie = 22kg, Cai = 27kg, Max = 32kg, Dog total = 81kg. Me = 84kg.)
