One of the rescues in Ireland that we work closely with has this little whippet x girlie. Lola. She has been quite poorly but in a little while will be looking for a new home. Not a lot of hope in Ireland, so we are putting her on the site here. Her is what Sheena has to say about Lola. Lola is approx 6mths old and is a white & brindle whippet lurcher pup. Obviously she is not ready for rehoming yet but we hope that it won't be too long before she reaches that stage. Lola is a loving girl who is great with other dogs, cats, children, travels well in the car and is also housetrained. (She is also getting to know that Shetland ponies can be quite naughty and should be given a wide berth !!!! ) Lola will be vaccinated and microchipped prior to rehoming, our vet will decide at a later date if she is ready for spaying. This young lass has had a hard start to life so we are looking for a very loving, comfortable home for her where she will never have to fear reliving her past. Sheena .................................. If you think that you could offer Lola a home with someone around most of the time and lots of tlc and love then please get in touch. Jenny. SLR Administrator. STOP PRESS - LOLA IS COMING INTO SLR ON FRIDAY THIS WEEK. And here are some photos of little Lola. And a lurcher lean

Only a little baby of just six months......... Has had a hard start to live.......... A look into her very sad eyes tell you more than thousand words could do..... Do you still remember little Lolly, folks? She had a similarly sad past, until SLR got her over and found little Lolly a lovely forever home............... Let's hope SLR can do the same to this little sweetie......... Viviane. X

Lola's update from Sheena that I neglected to post earlier :Sorry for the very long delay in an update of Lola the whippet/lurcher but she has had a long series of tests, biopsies, lumpectomies, etc etc Thankfully the biopsy on the lump under her jaw bone came back clear and has healed up lovely with all hair fully regrown now. The biopsies taken from various spots along her back and stomach all came back with the same results ..... severe skin reaction/allergy to demodex mange ..... Lola has been prescribed a two month course of oral ivomectin and tonnes of happiness & love to prevent another mange/allergy breakout and so far so good the redness & heat on her skin are staying away. As we all know demodex mange is not contagious and is brought on simply by stress so the vets have given the all clear for her to be rehomed on condition that her new owner will continue her medication to be sure that the change of homes does not induce an outbreak. I have not had her spayed yet as I know it will upset her, my intention was to have her spayed a fortnight or so before she would be rehomed so that I can supervise her recovery and then she could head off ..... in other words keep the bout of stress together so that hopefully she would be spared two stressful periods ...... Don't think I explained that very well but hope you know what I mean I will try taking some new photos of Lola and send them off to you asap if I can get her to stay still long enough ;o)) She has really come out of her shell and is much more playful and happy in herself. She is very outgoing and loves all people & children she meets. She is a big lover of playing with toys and is getting really good at playing fetch with a ball. Barney x

Lean on me when you're not strong And I'll be your friend I'll help you carry on For it won't be long Till I'm gonna need Somebody to lean on Lean on me... .... Bill Withers — Lean On Me lyrics Oh god you've got me crying now ...... that song soooo sums up Lola .... just wish she had've been found sooner so she wouldn't have had to suffer so long ..... she hasn't one bad bone in her body and shows gratitude for even the smallest of things .......... more tears will be shed the day she heads off to her forever home, I've become so used to her coming over the fields with me to check horses and standing by my side whilst I give bottles to the orphan lambs

oooo exciting Lola's coming in! Who's going to have the privelege of fostering her? Someone would very much like to meet the lass, so she'll initially be with Mummy Chook.

What an absolute dream baby girl. Stole my heart from the offset. She is so ickle, ickle Only around 20 inches at the shoulder, and all heart and squiggey wiggey cuddly. She got off the transport run and cuddles and wagged and nuzzled into Ronnie and Amby and Twiggy. Not a cross word between any of them, just love. She has been here for around 4 hours now and mixing brilliant, no surprise that Tag and her are charging around together A few photos of Lola's arrival and day so far. I have a video but photobucket is slow And giving Hayley and Lewis some advice on erecting their new tent for their New Forest break. Lucky people.
