thats fantastic news, i am so pleased you have failed, there is something very special and precious about the oldies. chloe is so good looking, she reminds me of my pepper, who we lost 3 years ago today. (his photo is in rainbow bridge thread today ) being on standby was fine, but i just know that had she come here, i would have been heartbroken when she left, so i am secretly relieved that everything has worked out for you all Have a happy life together and keep the updates and photos coming, we really do appreciate them.

Lovely Val. She looks so much younger now. I have a cut and shut lurcher too. They are the best kind ;D I had a feeling in my water that this was just meant to be. How lovely. I am coming down to the new forest in July. It would be lovely to meet up and say hello to her.

Hi everyone We celebrated day 7 with Chloe (9) in style. Off to our local park, Potterne, we let Saffie and Chloe off their leads. This was Chloe's first time off lead with us, and the first time we've let Saffie (14) off lead since her stroke on 13 March. Although Saffie has made a good physical recovery, she's lacked confidence and made it clear she'd run away if a dog she didn't know approached her. This was our main motive for replacing our dear Ben as quickly as we did. We just didn't believe Saffie would recover so fully mentally if she didn't have another companion. We set off round the park with the rain pouring down and the wind howling; another day in May's weather paradise, eh? The girls have been bonding with each other quietly and slowly this week, as Chloe's learned the household routines and Saffie's waited patiently for Chloe to approach her first. Both were a little wary of each other but respectful too for the first couple of days. No threats from either to the other meant the initial ice soon melted. Now Saffie draws confidence from Chloe's higher energy levels, and you can see for yourself how they enjoyed their walk in the rain this morning. We met several other owners with all kinds of dogs, and the girls behaved impeccably. We were very pleased. Here they are with their heads together: We managed to get most of the way round the circuit, then the heavens opened with a vengance. Chloe decided now was a very good time for a high speed sprint, so she could burn off some excess energy from being kept on the lead for 6 days! I'm afraid no photo would do it justice in the pouring rain, but suffice to say she did a quick couple of circuits of the wide open spaces and came back to us grinning her head off. We retreated to the car and went home. Towelled dry and fed, the girls did what older girls do best: We've had a lovely email from Chloe's previous owners, now settling down to their new life in St Louis, Missouri. I've given them the link to this website so they can follow Chloe's adventures from here but I've also sent one or two photos directly so they can see she's not depressed or pining. Here's one of my favourite: This is Saffie, trying to do the same, but with a poorer aim, as least as far as her head's concerned! More news and updates when Chloe's been with us a bit longer.

Hiya all Here's Chloe after just 3 weeks with us. She is doing so very well and has already carried out her first home check for SLR - what a star! She passed the prospective adopters as fantastic and has already been invited back to meet their new dog once they have her. The sunny weather allowed us all to enjoy a great walk this morning in our local park. Our other greyhound, Saffie, enjoys life so much more with Chloe around. All the best to everyone who adopts an SLR dog.
