That pic has made my day - lovely!
Please don't forget that if Little Big Lad becomes too much of a handful for you I'll don my shining armour & ride to the rescue by bringing him back here.
No?? .......................................................................... thought not! ;D ;D ;D

I'm sure you would Barney, but he is fine here thanks We plan to bring both dogs along to the Mutts in Distress show in December, so I would think that Bran would be very happy to see you again and have a hug

Lucy and Bran are getting on famously. Latest game is putting the puppies head in Bran's mouth - good game, good game! She follows him around like he's her big brother, it's so lovely to watch; she does torment him so. He's put her in her place a couple of times, but it doesn't stop her for long. She keeps getting in his crate, although she has got one of her own, so today he got up and went into her bed.
His recall seems to being coming on well; we will test it tomorrow on the walk, see you all then.

What a lovely photo, It was a pleasure to make yours and Bran's acquaintance, and share a table with you on our little jaunt on Sunday. I remember you telling me about the little spaniel she is gorgeous. I am sure they are great company for each other. Makes me want another dog!!! Gypsy sends her love but I think she was smitten with Ajax.

It certainly was a lovely walk on Sunday and it was very nice meeting you and Gypsy too, and everybody else. The dogs are good company for each other although I think Lucy drives Bran to the limits sometimes with her constant nipping and wanting to play. The trouble is, is his size; he wants to jump and play but he is a bit big for that and might squish her. He is very gentle though when you tell him; today when he was playing he seemed to be on his elbows above her. It would be great to bring her on a walk but I think she would end up being the bait, so not a good idea.

Haven't been on for a while - lovely little girl and such wonderful photos - are the pair of them ever awake If Lucy copies everything Bran does she'll be one laid back little woman !!!! Delighted to hear that he's being a good boy with his new friend - he had plenty of experience at Miriam's with 5 other assorted dogs - big, medium & small !!! It must be lovely for Lucy to have a big brother to look up to and play with and a big "pillow" to rest a little weary head on! I'm sure you'll all have a great time with Aunty Pat over at Mutts -

They do get on very well, although we sometimes have to get Lucy away from Bran simply because she always wants to play, and he doesn't always want to. He has put her in her place a couple of times but she still comes back for more As for pillows, they seem to take turns. Bran finds Lucy quite a comfy pillow on occassions. We've been trying to get Bran better at recall, but it's so hard as he really isn't bothered. I wonder sometimes if he should have been called Kevin! Generally he isn't too bad, but when distracted by other dogs down the park the treats simply come second. Any suggestions there gratefully received.

Shower time today for Bran. He was very good and didn't try to jump out, or for that matter race round the house afterwards. I reckon somebody stole his natural dog instincts

I promise that I will try to get pics of just Bran, but these 2 seem joined at the hip now This is guard duty in the kitchen, just in case some tasty morsel should fall......

She certainly is. However still on meds as she came to us with conjuctivitus plus a running tummy, and Bran's tum hasn't been that good of late so they are both on meds right now. Still, it doesn't seem to have impeeded her growth!

Aaaah they are such sweet pics, they look so sweet snuggled up together. I got Fern to stop mid running off to greet someone right across the other side of field the other day, the first time ever. I think i was saying in a very high pitched voice 'look' which in my house means yummy things coming your way , but she doesn't do it very often. Shee,s much better at the mo as i always have treats for Woody. i think that may be the only way . Saying all that if it had been a rabbit she will totally ignore me til she's ready

We've been taking Lucy and Bran to tennis courts this week for recall practice. Lucy is great - poor thing just keeps running from one to the other of us, whoever is calling. If your lucky Bran will come; like this morning virtually every whistle and he came, plus Lucy. Yet yesterday, couldn't have given a monkeys......
What concerns me (Lesley) is that last week at another local park, I let him off to play and at first he came back, but then got playing with a jack russell terrier (stupid little thing kept squeaking as though Bran was eating it) and would not come back. I don't think he would have hurt it, but you never know.
Is this why some of you have muzzles on your dogs whilst we are walking?

Basically, 'tis a question of really getting to know your own dog.
You've experienced being in the company of a group of some hounds that are muzzled & some not.
Their owners are respectively either (a) fully aware of their hounds' tendency to have the red mist descend, (b) they are still learning the particular traits of their own dogs & are taking the relevant precautions, or (c) they are confident that there will be no problem in mixing with other canines.
I guess the bottom line is if in doubt, muzzle, (& most dogs do very quickly accept being muzzled).

Thanks for that Barney. I would hate to see Bran in a muzzle, but I would rather be safe than sorry.
See you Sunday.

Thanks for that Barney. I would hate to see Bran in a muzzle, but I would rather be safe than sorry. You are absolutely right.
It really does boil down to a matter of personal judgement based on knowing your own hound - none of mine are muzzled, but they've been with me for sufficient time for me to get to know their behavioural characteristics. If I had any doubt at all I wouldn't hesitate to muzzle any of them.Looking forward to meeting up again, & especially to meeting the lovely Lucy & renewing acquaintances with Bran.

I had the same "not wanting to muzzle" thing with Sykes. The thing is, we have the Turning Up At 40mph With Our Mouths Wide Open Kit installed, but not the full Park Manners Modification Kit, yet.
Having the muzzle on just means that Sykes and I are protected against any "accidents" or "misinterpretations" while he's learning about meeting all sorts of other dogs out on walks (because I don't think he's done much of that before).
He REALLY doesn't mind it. In fact at Trent Park he and Ajax seem to invent some kind of "sword fighting with muzzles" game, you could hear them bopping each other, quite happily.
