looks more like a Cesarean scar than a castration? Get well soon Spot. How about some liver cake and a pint of Guinness to help keep his strength up.

Indeed it is. Apparently the testicles start off near the kidneys and are meant to migrate. His didn't, so I believe the vet had to track them from where they should have been, but weren't, back towards where they started off until they were found.
He's been very good, so far, not worrying the stitches.

Spot arrived at our home-kennel at lunchtime today & after a thorough exploration of the premises & garden he demonstrated that he has a distinct liking for pigs ears. :
He then road-tested the dog bed in the living room.......................
before deciding that he preferred the company of my two Greys in the spare hound bedroom:
Spot walked well on the lead when I took all the hounds out for their evening constitutional, with no pulling.
The lad has thus far proved to be the perfect house guest - in fact he's a real gentleman, a happy soul who loves the company both of other hounds & of humans. He's very affectionate & likes nowt more than a good cuddle, (although treats come a close second! ).
There has been not the merest hint of any problem with this lovely gentle, intelligent boy & he will definitely make some lucky person a wonderful companion when he finds his forever home

It hasn't taken Spot long to familiarise himself with his new surroundings:
Or to discover a suitable place in the kitchen for reminding me to feed him!

Spot had his stitches removed this morning. He's back here & appears as right as ninepence. One testicle was normal but the other item removed was the size of a pea, so its been sent for analysis to see if it really is a testicle. If not, he may need to be reopened to look for it Happily the 'other item' was indeed his second testicle, which was strangulated. This means that the lad won't need to go under the knife again.
He's off to Dorset for a week on Monday or Tuesday, when I hope to introduce him to the beach, which I don't suppose he's seen before.

Spot appears to get more affectionate by the minute - he kept distracting me from the rugby on the box this afternoon by frequently licking my face.
Surely there must be someone out there who can offer this lovely young boy a loving forever home? He is just adorable: if I wasn't committed to keeping a foster place open I'd take him in like a shot.
Please guys & gals, spread the word that we have in our care a hound who will repay a potential adopter a thousandfold for taking him under their wing.

He does lie down a lot doesn't he! Mrs DADI says the 2 seater sofa must have been made with him in mind. ;D Good luck, Spot - hopefully you won't be moving too far away. Lots of hugs from Mrs DADI.
