A quick post on Beagle. He's a very bright boy and can now sit when he's told. I think he'd do really well with training, and would probably love agility. I might try him over the jumps at training on Saturday. His house training is coming on really well. He still has the odd accident now and then, but he's much better. Beagle's confidence out on walks has really grown. He loves to play and had a nice time with a pug and a doberman this afternoon. He gets on with all sizes of dogs. They even sit in height order! He's such a sweetie, and loves to cuddle up with you on the sofa.

Another Beagle update: Mouthing with his best mate Fionn: This boy is so full of beans I feel tired just watching him When not fast asleep he's always on the go. He is definitely going to need lots of play time and long walks to burn off all that energy. He's also an accomplished and DETERMINED countersurfer, he'll keep going back for more and nothing is uninteresting to him, be it food, cardboard boxes, shoes- anything that takes his fancy. From being around him it's clear he doesn't 'get' boundaries much and is conveniently deaf when told to wait or stop or go out He'll need firm and consistent training for these things in the future. Having said that he's still as cute as ever and doesn't mean anything in malice- he's just being Beagle. He'll make a great dog with training and patience.

Did you get a chance to see if he could be cat friendly yet Rowan. Some lovely people are being home-visited tomorrow, if the snow doesn't settle too much here in Essex

No Jenny, unfortunately we haven't had a chance. We'll try and organise something but it may not happen. At the moment it's hard to tell; he's interested in our resident small furry, more than seems innocent but other than that we don't know. And yes he is off the raw food (to Mum's relief, no more venison body parts ) and eating burns and apart from slightly runny poos seems fine and likes it.

The piggy back ride: Playtime (sort of): After being told off for counter surfing he retreats to safety with his friends: You go out to the kitchen for food, leaving dogs asleep. You happen to turn around and find this almost every time : Fionn's waiting for his chance for the kong: and gives up They make me laugh so much, they're all so funny together.

This boy looovvees his sofa- on the first night we made a bed on the floor for him, but he got on the sofa instead and has never got off! Now he won't even settle down unless he's got a good bit of comfy sofa to sleep on and we just can't deny him. He should have a lovely sofa just for him in his new home he deserves it.

You've ruined a perfectly good kennel hound by offering him comfy cushions. ;D

Knowing him you'd think he's been treated like a little Prince and never slept in a kennel in his life It seems he's decided the sofa is very much a must now

We cat tested Beagle on Monday. He was unsure at first but then barked and growled at the cat a number of times, we pulled him back and said no but he kept on trying. The cat also swiped at him and hissed but he didn't care, just stared at it and tried to chase it when it ran away He didn't seem to like it but everyone had different opinions so he's going to be tested once more at Ros's, and we'll know then once and for all. Beagle's doing fine, full of energy as ever And no, we havn't failed- yet

Don't encourage Hannah They're little and large ;D They love curling up together and playing together. And Beagle's such a tease, he keeps trying to make Fionn play with him, but Fionn can't after his op. So they settle for mouthing each other on the sofa Hopefully we'll be doing a second cat test at Ros's house (bagelqueen) on Saturday morning. So fingers crossed that goes well, or it will have to be a no cat home for Beagle A couple of pictures: He loves to snuggle with my springer, and Tipton kindly endures ;D But I'm afraid he does take up a large amount of the sofa: ;D ;D

Yes as much as we love Beagle if we kept him I don't know whether we'd be allowed (i.e whether Dad would allow us) to foster again and we still want to be available to cater for all the little waifs and strays ;D

I know Hannah and I fully understand, there are so many out there needing help and I really admire you all for being able to do this , I know I couldn't, would never let none go, would take just a few encouraging words and that knowing look and I would be done for

Just a quick Beagle update. He had a little off lead romp today which was nice to see, although Fionn couldn't play as he's still on lead after his op. We havn't let him off properly yet as we were still unsure of his recall and how he is with little dogs (as there are crowds of them around here) but as he seemed to be fine with recall in the garden today we chanced it so he had a little run around He seems to be getting naughtier by the day! ;D He is a master countersurfer and thief and his new favourite game is to steal cans from the recycling box and run away from the silly person chasing him to get it back he still has so much energy but I think this is a combination of puppyness and a need for more running about time which hopefully we can fulfil as we let him off the lead more. On the plus side his housetraining is about sorted now as he now 'asks' to go outside when he needs the toilet. He's also very bright and eager to learn and so loving Hard work but worth it methinks (don't know whether Dad would agree ;D) Now for some pics: On the walk: Where you'll often find him: Telling us what he thinks of his kerchief: Sleeping: The best friends: Aren't we cruel ;D: Some peace and quiet for us :
