The handsome young, (just a year old), Dozer entered the SLR fold this afternoon:
Dozer is approximately 23 inches at the shoulder, a bull breed x, possibly English Bull Terrier, Whippet. He is in splendid condition & is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
His owner has had him since he was 6 weeks old, (when he was found in a trailer at a stables with three others), but has now sadly found it necessary to relinquish him because of a change in circumstances a few days ago, which has meant that Dozer had to be left in his crate for up to 13 hours at a stretch. Dozer, being just a pup, was naturally not best pleased at this, & at times became very vocal, which in turn understandably did not go down well with the neighbours, one of whom works nights.
Dozer’s owner realised that this was an intolerable situation for the lad, who needs a home with someone around more, so very reluctantly, (but sensibly, with the dog’s best interests at heart), he was given into our care.
Dozer is dog friendly, cat friendly with older steady cats, and extremely human friendly.
At the moment Dozer is bouncing off the walls – this is largely the result of having been on a high protein diet, which of course will now be rectified.
He’s a very happy, playful lad, who has mixed well with my crew, appears to be intelligent, & is very inquisitive. First indications are that he is a countersurfer, but thus far there’s been no evidence of bin raiding propensities.
Dozer has been out for two walks this afternoon, & doesn’t so much pull on the lead as dart swiftly in the direction of new smells, & he’ll be receiving some individual lead tuition.
Finding his feet & meeting the Harlow Hooligans today:
Incidentally, 'Dozer' is definitely a misnomer, since everything in his little world takes place at 90mph!!

He's a very appealing little dog, in the flesh. Very bright eyed and happy to see you. His previous owner obviously loved him and had cared well for him, but circumstances got in the way. Glad we could take him in. He's a real sweetie and once he slows down a bit (!) he'll make someone a lovely pet. He loves cuddles and is so friendly and smiley.

Looks like a lively little hound that could be interesting, so shall we say he looks like he is on top form. Bless. Just as well you have high fences Barney or he would be peeping over the top.

He's lurvley!!! ;D And I like the name Dozer it goes with the bull terrier in him - Bull Dozer ;D lol
It's so sad though that he can't stay with his owner as he obviously thinks the world of him, if only everyone was as considerate as him putting his dogs needs first.

The lad's certainly very appealing, especially those ears!
That was waiting patiently for his breakfast this morning - my word has he got an appetite!

Dozer enjoying this morning's welcome sunshine:
The lad is getting on well with the resident hounds, & particularly enjoys playing with Annie.
Erin seems to have taken a bit of a shine to him - she normally adopts her aloof Greyhound persona & ignores canine visitors after the initial introductions, but she's actually interacting with Dozer.

Talking of which, if you were thinking of popping in to meet Dozer, I'm sorry - you're too late! He travelled down to Kent this afternoon, (courtesy of Steve, who brought Kee on the reverse trip - are you following the plot so far?), where he's now being fostered by Vicky, who kindly offered to take him on board to free up a space here.

Seriously though he is a fantastic dog in top condition, his pictures really don't do him justice. He's a lovely solid dog with a coat like silk. He walks beautifully on the lead, sits and gives paw and is soooooooooo cuddly. ;D

And now he is not stuck in a create for 13 hrs a day. He looks so nice I am sure he will be here today and gone tomorrow. As you say he is in lovely condition, I bet his owner was sad to give him up.
