Mickey is going to be our first SLR dog to emigrate Janeen is relocating to America and Mickey and Koda will be moving with her. We knew this when Janeen asked to adopt him. And considering that she would still be in the U.K. for 8 months we agreed. We feel that this is a sure sign of her commitment to Mickey. Anyone want to go do the post-homecheck ;D Here's the latest update from Janeen. Hi Jenny - all is well here. Mickey's been enjoying bunny hunting with koda in the rapeseed fields. He's become quite submissive too. Greeting new dogs with kisses. He continues to make lots of new friends! We are starting house hunting looking at properties online. Lots of good options for homes. Mickey's been doing really well with my friends chickens so we may get some chickens when we move back. A few houses we're going to have a look at have barns and stables, ponds and a lot of land. I think he will enjoy life as an ex pat. Still expecting to move end of summer. Some new piccies of the boys from Janeen. Mickey enjoying one of his country runs. And the boys relaxing on the sofa.

Hi Guys!!! Well anyone who wants to come visit in the USA is welcome!!!!! We will have room - and of course lots of great dog friendly places..... All of my greyhound, saluki and whippet friends CANNOT wait to meet mickey -
he's really a doll - such a sweetie and he and Koda get on very well... He has been having a blast lately looking for bunnies and pheasants in the rapeseed fields (only down side is that he turns green and yellow!)
We have a huge amount of properties to look at in the USA as the housing situation is the same there as here - and good prices with land and some even have stables - may have to get mick some chickens!!!
He's really come a long way - he is good to be left at home if i run out to the store or whatever and no longer panics - he's relearned that a crate isnt a terrfying, punishment zone and that it is a cool fun place - I have a Great Dane crate that is just left open and koda regularly goes in there to snooze so mick has wandered in quite a bit - and he has also on his own gone into the soft sided crate i keep in my bedroom - i've never put him in there - as i just want him to explore and learn on his own that a crate can be a happy safe place....
He is fully eating the Natural Diet, now LOVES to eat veggies, fruit, sardines, chicken necks, etc..... he is no longer a fussy eater....
He's a really great guy

When are you going to learn to become a member Janeen We will allow it as we have a soft spot for you and Mickey ;D Only a few months left here then and Mickey will be our very first emigrant. I think I should be the post-homecheck then. ;D I hope to meet up with you before you go. You have come a long way with Mickey, and we know it has NOT been plain sailing, resulting in one nasty bite to Koda in March. But all fingers crossed that these two are now soul mates.

Mummy Chook's thoughts echoed here, but she's far too busy with SLR to cross the pond & carry out the post-homecheck for Mickey - the obvious candidate has to be Fishslayer! ;D

excuse me Jenny I thought the person who did the home visit did the post home check - thats me ;D ;D ;D ;D When I did the home check for another dog all I remember thinking was that Kee should be there not the other dog. This home was meant for Kee, but I was very good and did not mention him. Then the foster mum failed and Kee had his chance and I was so pleased. Mickey was just waiting to meet his new mum, she just didn't know it ;D he is such a lucky boy and will have a wonderful life in America.

Hey guys!! I didnt realise that my login had failed last time !! All is well here - going to look for Mickey's new home in a few weeks...... We are spoilt for choice - just a matter of where our short list has 52 properties!! YIKES!! seriously though will have to find a good one for the dogs --- my realtor things i am a bit bonkers as every question i ask is about the dogs etc ..... Koda and Mickey are doing well
We had a bit of an incident yesterday morning - the boys were off traipsing through the woods at high speeds and Mr. Mickey ripped off a toe nail - i never heard a peep out of him - and it is a clean shear - he was at the vets and they did an xray (no anes. since he was a good boy with me holding him) no other damage other than the nail - and it is very clean - he doesn't like having it soaked 3x a day but tolerates it - he does NOT like getting his toes wet!!! anyway vet says it looks fine and he is definitely NOT feeling it - he wanted to go running this morning..... ! will keep cleaning it daily for a few weeks and take him back to the vet in a few days - there is no reddness or swelling - and he doenst seem to even know it is gone
Maybe we should have a SLR homecheck party at my new house??? I have heaps of pix i need to upload - I have just been so busy on the computer looking for new homes and taking the dogs out for runs and walks i havent had much time to upload!
