Yesterday Finn was given treats at the pet store and then wearing his new coat met some more of the local dogs in the fields. He behaved very well. We did some pavement walking as traffic training, then after supper he was tired out and we all put our feet up He enjoyed his tummy rub At bedtime he tried his oscar winning leap onto the duvet routine, but we were too quick. Once in his own bed he fell fast asleep, not a peep for eight hours. This morning however he is very excited. I will try and capture his leaps and jumps. He has done some quiet time on his own in the kitchen and we ignored his protests and is now downstairs in the studio. He was beautifully behaved with his first new friend Nina and later the builders.

He looks so lovely and happy, always a handsome boy. I'm sure he's loving being the centre of attention Love his coat he does look very dashing in green- and we love the 'putting your feet up picture'- just great

Glad you like the photo's and here are some more of Finn in action. Although it is early days, he has settled in very quickly and has daily comic moments. He seems very content and yes Rowan you are right is absolutely loving being centre of attention. He used to stop and stare on his country walks for ages (I mean really ages), but we give him cheese and biscuits and now he keeps moving. He is off to the vets on Monday for his second vacination and although he has finished his antibiotics we will get his eye looked at again, as it is a bit runny. His only grumble is being left alone. He did 45 minutes on his own in the kitchen this morning, but complained loudly. Here he is playing off the lead in our garden Chatting with the chooks And back indoors with his toys And exhausted by all of the above!

Yep, Anna, that eye does seem quite bad again. Hope the vet can sort him out. Not nagging, but try and cut down on the amount of tactile attention he is getting. It can lead to sepration anxiety. I know it is really hard not to give them lots of love because you want to compensate for what they have been through, but it can go the other way. He is so lovely.

You're doing just great. I remember when we got our Mim. I couldn't stop cuddling her and she slept in our bedroom!!!!! Then she slept on our bed!!!!!! Then she started the "I'm boss growl when we moved in bed"!!! I then read some behavioural books and realized that we were doing exactly what she wanted. Little cow ;D She still gets lots of fuss, but on our terms. He is so gorgeous, a cuddle-man. Hope it goes well with the eye.

He used to stop and stare on his country walks for ages (I mean really ages), but we give him cheese and biscuits and now he keeps moving. If he has been a worker this might well be a legacy. Our Jack is quite happy loping around the village, but in the country seems to be sizing up where the game might be, where it would break to and the best route he can take to get there. Scanning all this for up to a mile away can take quite a bit of time ;D

Beautiful Finn, I can see from the pictures his tail is always wagging are you far away? towards Essex or towards Kent? it would be lovely to meet him (and you of course) in one of the walks just seen you run a gallery (nice) and you are only a few miles from Sussex Longdogs! (www.sussexlongdogs.org.uk) I wish we were that near! and thanks John for the explanation about staring in the distance...that might make sense for Ajax as well

Finn would love to meet other Lurchers who can play his kangaroo jumping game, from his expression, we are not very good at it ;D We are in the next village to Sussex Longdogs and Michelham Priory. Very interested in Sunday walks in East Sussex/West Kent. Finn will be on his lead, as even playing hide and seek with spicy sausages, can't lure him across the garden just yet

Do you feed him dry kibble? Have you thought about putting his food bowl in the cupboard for a couple of weeks? If you hand feed him for a bit it should speed up his realisation that yummy things come from his new mum. Should make recall games in the garden for tasty treats more successful with a bit of time.

Wow Will give it a go, I am still getting used to his enormous teeth. I mix his food by hand and fed him a handful last night, most of which went on the floor. Good game. He licks my hands a lot and I feed him dried biscuits, as he is a bit skinny. Yesterday I threw a tennis ball in the garden and he brought it right back, Hurrah. Finn with his food bowl is an awesome spectacle, his eyes follow me round the kitchen as I make the human supper and when my hand reaches for his bowl, he sits bolt upright. He eats his food faster than our hoover and licks his lips in comic fashion, before re licking the bowl, his lips, the bowl etc etc and finally the window sill just in case, vapour of food is still lingering. He has also had his second vac and the vet said he has "Good eyes". He wasn't concerned about his runny eye, just said keep up the salt water cleaning or squeeze some drops from a cold used teabag He also spent thirty minutes alone this morning, with only some minor yoodles, so all good progress ;D
