I am so pleased for you all!! And you're so right Jules, the dog finds you! When we got Jemima I was looking for an oldie not a 2 year old, and although I love Salukis, I thought she would be too active for me as I know the breed. But the kennels assured us that a 20 minute walk and she would settle for the day! Well we met, and all fell in love and home she came. 24 hours later she turned into the "mad as a box of frogs" girl that she still is today four years later. I guess she must have shut down in kennels hence the sleeping all day! All that said, she was the right dog for us because she makes us laugh several times a day and is so loving, and surprisingly sensitive! Plus she gave Blue a new lease of life even though he was ill, she taught him to play, and his last year was such a happy one for him thanks to Jemima! Anyway the point is that you are right for him, and he is right for you, and what a wonderful new life he'll have. Thank you for adopting him xx

Well although not confirmed I think I'll assume like everyone else that Harley is going nowhere. I am so pleased because you guys just seem to fit so well together. Definitely cheered up my day xx Just the look on Joe's face...says it all.

This splendid news is probably one of the least surprising FF results in the history of SLR! The three of you are wished a long, happy & healthy life together.

Look what we found this morning... At Carthagena Lock, on the River Lea. Halti for brakes and steering as Mr Davidson (as Keef calls him) is very strong! He is a good boy though. Is it me or does he look like a baby Bruce in this shot?

He's very handsome I like that halti, it looks to have some padding on it? Where did you get that from Jules, it would be much nicer for Louie when running xx

It's a Halti Optifit, we got it from Pets at Home (Lifelines, people!) but I'm sure they're out there and online. There's a lot of adjustment in it, so I don't think the actual measurement of the dog matters so much. Harley wears a size 2; to me, his head seems quite small - he picked up one of Sykes's muzzles yesterday and was throwing it about, and when I rescued it I tried it on him. Almost his whole head fits in! - but the Optifit will go much bigger.
Edited to add: size 2 also marked as 'medium'.

Super pic Jules. He looks like a young Nero too.

He's a perfect fit in all respects. I think Mr. Sykes would approve. xx

Harley spent a few hours today at 'All About Dogs' in Hylands Park.
He has learned:
*Lure racing is AWESOME!!* (He ran a short course alone. Got the idea immediately. Had another go. Then another one)
*Retrieving a ball is AWESOME!!* (But what the heck is a Frisbee?)
*Flyball is AWESOME!!* (Specially if you go past the loaded box and filch a ball out of the bucket instead. He did have a great stride pattern over the hurdles on the lowest slats)
*Orange netting is AWESOME!!* (You can run at it head-first and butt it like a goat, then ricochet over the top somehow to 'freedom')
*Dock Dogs is AWESOME!!* (No no. We didn't try this. I don't know if he can swim yet but he was very keen, paws up on the edge of the pool watching, yipping and making occasional attempts at launching)
Sadly, although I had both my camera and phone with me, I didn't get any photos as Harley's eyes were on stalks, there were so many dogs to meet (all happily) and I was forever knitting with leads. I'm hoping there might be some video of him on the lure though.A good day. When he was off-lead, his recall worked. Phew. He was pleased to see Socks; Maisie was not so pleased to see him! He's now sound asleep.

Sounds like you had a great day. I wish you could do Fun lure coursing near here. Rowlf would love it.

WTG Harley. My lot love lure coursing too, although Kodi forgets to stop at the end and ends up as a train-wreck tangled up in that lovely orange netting. Harley really is the perfect hound to take to events like this isn't he. Loves everyone and a real joiner-in.

Keeley, from ACES (Athletic Canine Enthusiasts), who were running the lure, took this video of his first ever run.
I'd not done any training for this but thought he might enjoy it as he does have a strong prey drive and chase instinct.
