Just checking you were going to be home, that's all, as I won't be able to hang around long due to my own dogs having been left alone. We'll deffo be home - wouldn't miss welcoming Chester for the world!

The eagle has landed! Chester arrived about ten minutes ago, & he's absolutely adorable. He is smaller than we expected, measuring only about 23" tts. He's a very friendly lad, certainly up for a cuddle. Most importantly he's received the girls' approval.
Chester is spending a little while familiarising himself with his new surroundings, including climbing all over me,(& the computer) while I'm trying to type this post.
I'm just about to take the gang for a decent walk in the park, & I'll report back on his lead behaviour on our return.

I forgot to say that Chester is now wearing his SLR foster collar that Jenny delivered this afternoon, & he's such a little morsel that there's a good four inches to spare at the end of it!

He sounds an absolute delight, enjoy him while you can Barney xx Believe me Toni, I fully intend to! He sticks very close to me & doesn't like me to be out of sight, so I'm guessing that I'll probably have an audience when I take my shower in the morning.

I really don't mean to sound OTT regarding this lovely little lad, but, (& I know that he's only been here for five minutes), but the Chester experience has gone from good to great to magical.
He went through the night, (on my bed), with no problem. He is clean indoors, the only only minor accident being when he first arrived - a tiny little dribble when he was clearly excited.
Chester enjoyed his early walk in the park, & once again was no problem on the lead.
He lapped up his breakfast of half a can of Butchers tripe & a small handful of Wainwrights kibble with relish, & didn't attempt to muscle in on the girls' breakfasts, though he did clean their bowls of what little was left after they'd finished.
I'll attempt to put some pics up later in the day via Postimage or Flickr.

Who's just blotted his copybook?
I'd just taken the chicken I'd been roasting for the hounds' dinner tomorrow out of the oven, drained it, & put it on top of the microwave suitably covered, when a certain little'un, ( who shall remain nameless ), silently appeared by my side & stood on his hind legs in an attempt to reach it. A shout of Oi in my best imitation of a Voice of Doom deterred him from further investigation, but I've put an oven dish on top of the chicken, hoping that it'll serve as alarm by noisily clattering to the floor if there's any further transgression.

Lurcher noses get them into BIG trouble when there's food about!

Weeeellllll, that was certainly a very big temptation, I don't think you can really blame the boy for trying. I couldn't leave anything like that out on the worktop here or Nero would inhale it on his way past without even trying!

Weeeellllll, that was certainly a very big temptation, I don't think you can really blame the boy for trying. Nope - I reckon that in the Lurcher legal pantheon it doesn't rate as a serious crime, merely a minor misdemeanour.

My dogs have just started a petition to come and live with you Barney - a whole roast chicken just for dogs . In this house, they have to share with me (and I get the lion's share) .
