Update on Scruffy. But first I would like to thank you all for your support and kind words. You never know quite what you are taking on when you foster a Lurcher. But I have to say Scruffy is so easy, he is happy, good with other (respectful) dogs, no counter surfing/bin raiding, no peeing, chewing or separation issues. his only thing is sock nicking from bedrooms (he's learning that from Gershwin) He is not phased with noise from the hoover, washing machine etc. We have just had a impromptu cat training session , as we were in the garden, my stable cat came towards us Scruffy got very excited and vocal, the cat always stands his ground so I took Scruffy towards him using only two command words, NO and LEAVE he got his nose too close and the cat spat and lashed out. He was on a short lead and we had a fence between us, needless to say Scruffy backed off avoiding eye contact with Thomas, He is a joy to have and will be greatly missed when he finds his forever home.My previous foster (scruff) went to Tina (huckworthy hounds)and he is his double !!!!!

I think Claire has had the cheek to bugg..r off on holiday. Here are a couple of photos of Scruffy, now known as Frazer, in his new home. Hopefully his new mum and dad will reveal themselves shortly. And yes, that is a cat on the worktop! It tells the dogs where and when they can go

Hello to everyone out there in Lurcher Land. Here's an update on Frazer (formerly known as Scruffy). Well it's been a hectic few days and the old brain boxes have just started to settle down, so please bear with us. I picked up the young man on Wednesday evening and he was a piece of cake to transport, jumped into the back of the car and not a peep all the way home. We had managed an introduction on Tuesday to see if there were any issues with our two, thankfully there were none so all was looking good. On arrival at ours it was dark, so we decided to do the home introductions in the garden on leads, a bit of woofing, then tail wagging, followed by nether region sniffing and a wee fest. Next step was the cat introduction, he had shown potential while being fostered so we went for it with our "am I bovvered" matriarch. A mean stare, a hiss and he was in his place. We made the mistake of cuddling her to show she was part of our pack and let him get a feel for the smell which brought him too close and a stern telling off. Cat No 2 also put him in his place so we were feeling reassured. Next was bedtime, which I have to say went like a dream, didn't stir all night (probably emotionally shattered, we were!) I've added a link to a photo of that evening, fingers crossed the PhotoBucket gods are with us) This morning he visited the vets, stitches removed from the tea bag, ears checked over (we just need to carry on with the drops for 5 more days) first batch of injections and a big thumbs up on his general condition. Two weeks to his final jabs and we are ready to rumble! When we got home Jackie put him in the shower and set to with the scissors around the ears and nether regions, he now looks nice and fresh, like a big silver candy floss. I know his original post put him up as Beddie/Whippet, and there is a bit of likeness in there, but at 25 kg and a big silver coat, plus a plodding gait, I'm starting to think bearded collie. When I get to put up some more pictures I'd be interested in the collective opinion. All the very best to you all, from Frazer, who has been given the opportunity to enhance the lives of us mere mortals. He is doing a first class job and it is only 48 hours. Way to go SLR!!!!! Jackie, Rob, Willo, Fergus and Frazer (Oh and not forgetting the 4 Grumpy felines Lizzie, Ernie, Pansy and Bindi)
