Ollie looks fab, we need a steady charachter to keep our nervous Saluki X Whippet girlie company as she is becoming increasingly nervous.
Is it known yet if Ollie is excited by cats? We don't have one but it could be a problem when out walking as my wife is not a big person and is worried about controlling two excited hounds especially if one was a bigger lad.

I think only Helen (Pipsmum) can answer this one. I'm sure she'll be on here later with an update, but you could try PMing her just in case she doesn't see your question.

I just had Ollie for the weekend and Helen said that he didn't like cats - but we didn't see any! He is a sweetie but is a bouncy boy when he sees a possible doggy playmate.

OK thanks for the prompt feedback, sounds like he may be a bit bouncy for my wife to handle. Our Saluki X is only 17kgs and so easily controllable when she sees a cat, though most of the time when out walking she is extremely nervous rather than excited and we are struggling to walk anywhere in a built up area.

Sounds as though he might be a bit strong for your wife if he's bouncy with potential play mates. With regards the cat thing, there's versions of this to consider when you're looking. 'Doesn't like cats' - like Lizzie/Greta (RIP) - who look keen and would if they could, if you know what I mean, which is very manageable. Then there's 'doesn't like cats' Alfie Moon stylie - which means sometimes turning into a snarling spinning redirecting werewolf if the cat's are moving, but can pass by reasonably well if the cat's don't move and he's caught pre-lunge and lots of encouragement, but requires lots of strength and determination - not what you would want!

Even though Ollie is a lovely couch potato he is a strong dog on lead as well. Helen runs every morning with him for 6 kilometres. He may be a couch potato but only because he has that burst of exercise. We are hoping for applications from people who like to be out and about and also have another dog. He really does need and want the company of another dog around all the time.

Hello, Ollie shows a very excited interest in cats, not nasty, just VERY excited!! He is a big boy so unless you have strong arm muscles, it might be a problem πΎπ±πΎπ±πΎπ±

Hi All, thought I would give an update on Ollie as we have had him in our home for nearly two months. He is a big boy but has lost 2.5 kilos since he has been with us and is looking very dashing. He is fabulous wth everyone - men, women, children, other dogs! A home with another dog would be perfect for him, he does have a good ole yodel if I take him out first and then my other three go out after and he goes straight to the front of the house and looks out of the window with a VERY mournful face!! His routine is such that I get up early and run with him for 6 kms before breakfast - he is a young lad with lots of energy so any owner would need to be sure they could give him a good walk before leaving for work/other commitments in the morning otherwise he becomes VERY mischievous - the butter goes missing, the food goes missing from the kitchen work surface, he wants to play, play, play with my other dogs until it drives them to distraction. BUT that walk in the morning, then breakfast, then a blast of craziness in the garden means he is ready to sleep straight away π€π€π€π€. As I am a dog walker, I am in and out all morning so he is in the garden most of the time (love this spring weather) where he is happy to sunbathe. He loves doing the school runs, meeting other dogs, being nice to my childrens friends and taking in the world. He is strong and if he sees a squirrel you will need to hold on to that lead for dear life. A few times I have been in awe that I have managed to avoid splatting face first in to mud whilst holding on!
He loves a cuddle and if he can't get one with humans, he will squeeze in to a dog bed for a cuddle with one of my dogs which isn't always appreciated as he is so big but he doesnt seem to notice their displeasure.
I always like to say hello to his nose whilst preparing food, it is ALWAYS hovering around, always living in hope for a few crumbs.
He is an all round super catch for the right family and if I didnt have two Golden Oldies, I would definitely keep him because he is utterly adorable.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, I really really want him to find that perfect homeππ

Loved him from the minute I picked him up from the pound, he had his head on my husbands shoulder for the entire journey. Very intelligent willful boy and so loving he will make a wonderful friend for that special home.
