Just had conformation that the leg will need to come off as the vet has no idea how long it has been dislocated for. She is booked in for next week unless anything changes.

It may be that she will need to stay with me till shes had her op as the vet thinks a long journey would be very uncomfortable for her as she is. I am happy with this but she will need another foster once fit to travel as my garden is not secure at present. At least we will have time to sort appropriate foster and travel arrangements.

This is so sad that she's suffering because her owners didn't care for her properly. I hope her operation goes well and she adjusts to being a tripawd quickly.

Bless you Penny! But I agree with what the others have said, she'll be better without it. Look how well little Woody has done without his.

Blurry screen here with sadness for such unnecessary suffering and with being deeply moved, yet again, by wonderfulness of what SLR does in terms of giving hounds in physical and/or emotional pain a new, safe and loving life Love the 'Life story' photo!

I can't stop thinking about the unnecessary suffering of this poor hound. The previous owners should be prosecuted for cruelty. If treated earlier she wouldn't have been in pain and probably wouldn't have lost a leg. These people aren't dog lovers. If they genuinely ☹️ couldn't afford it they could have gone to the Blue Cross where they just have to make a donation. This has really upset me as it is so unnecessary. 😢

As above. This is heartbreaking, the mentality of some people beggars belief. Thank doG for SLR indeed. Wish I could help with fostering, but we're away twice in the next six weeks.

Well she had a lovely quiet night and the howling and changed to an occasional whimper. She remains clean in doors and an absolute delight. She's very unresponsive to a lot of things and I expect she's not use to much affection. Her cleanliness indoors suggests she's lived in a house but that didn't stop her attempting to steal my kebab straight off my plate last night that was on my lap!!! I think she's going to be a counter surfer too once she is able to jump up. So far she has take no interest in Colin (Colin's a jack X) even when she was eating with him 6" away! I'm looking forward to seeing her come out of her shell although this will suffer a set back when she transforms into a beautiful tripawd!

So very sad that the owners left the poor girl like this and now she has to lose a leg. At least she will soon be out of pain and able to enjoy life once again. Thank you for looking after her.

I met the lovely Winnie today. She is everything Penny said. So gorgeous, gentle and sad. Only small, around 23/24 at the shoulder. And beautiful colours. I am sure once the leg comes off she will be much happier and livelier. x

We all know from other SLR tripod dogs that they manage really well and she'll be so much better off with 3 legs and no pain than being in pain and having the potential to dislocate. Well done for looking after her and seeing her through this painful time. Hopefully it won't be long before she's on the mend and out of pain.
