Reggie's having a great week. Yesterday, he met a horse from a short distance. He wasn't scared, just intrigued and gave a hello type bark. The horse must've been dog-friendly as he or she did a happy dance, a bit like a lurcher happy dance on seeing one of their doggie friends. I wish I'd have taken a video, but only managed a couple of pictures before the horse did the dancing! Earlier today, I took Reggie to be weighed at the vets. He's now 21.5kg up from 20.9kg when he arrived 2 weeks ago, so just over half way to putting on the 1kg the vet said he could do with. We've walked past some very noisy building works this week and Reggie has been great and remained calm, but maybe part of that is due to him taking the lead from my other dog who he was with at the time who is very calm. He does like to save his wee wee business until we get home from a walk, either doing it in the front or back garden when asked. I've asked him on walks to do his business and a couple of times he has done, and today he did a wee on a walk without being asked, so I think this is something that won't take too long for him to get used to doing. Reggie has been getting better and better with me leaving him in the lounge with my other dogs and not jumping the stair gate. He's gone from his first days here when he was crying as I went out of the room and jumping the gate to be with me, to now two weeks later when he just looks up at me when I leave the room. I've been able to cook dinner in the kitchen, hang washing upstairs and go to the toilet, and he's stayed lying on the sofa or armchair or sometimes gone into his crate as the door is left open for him. Last night, he sat beautifully to let me clip a few of the nails on his front paws that were a little long. Fireworks have been heard here a few times this week. When they've been in the distance, just the sound, Reggie's been fine. But once, they were a couple of gardens away and could be seen from the window and he barked a few times, but settled again once they finished, which thankfully didn't last long. Hopefully, there won't be too many close by over the weekend, fingers crossed. As I'm writing this, he's sitting on my lap, which is his new favourite seat.

He does love kisses on his snozzle! He has such a lovely character and thus, combined with stunningly good looks, this gorgeous boy won't be around here for too long, I bet. ETA: Just had another look at his picture.... has anybody else noticed his dark eye liners? Oh Wowww!!!!

Reggie is still being an absolute angel. He's such a pleasure to have around and has completely stolen my heart. He's very affectionate and loves giving and getting kisses and cuddles. He has a very sweet way of asking to sit on my lap: He puts his front paws up on the sofa next to me and waits for me to lift him on my lap. So, as I'm his favourite seat, I'm having to type this bent over to reach the laptop keyboard on the footstool in front of me! Another very endearing thing he does is to sit and hold out his paw whenever I have treats in my hand. He's quickly learned "down" and the command "in your kennel" to go into his crate. His ringworm is so much better. The skin is still sore, but lots of scabs have come off now. He eats coconut oil daily, which he loves and devours swiftly, and hopefully this will help healing as well as the malaseb, and also colloidal silver I've now started using on his skin. As soon as he's cleared the ringworm, he can be neutered. I can also stop having the washing machine on as often and spraying everything with apple cider vinegar in the hope that will stop ringworm spreading to anyone else in the house. He's always so happy to see other dogs on our walks, large and small, and it'll be lovely when he can say hello to them properly as it's sad that I have to keep holding him back. He also wants to say hello to everyone we pass on our walks; he's so friendly and happy. After getting over the initial excitement of starting a walk, his lead walking is mostly good, although he does pull towards interesting smells. He walks better on a harness and walks better on the street than in the woods, but it probably doesn't help that my dogs are quite pully in the woods towards smells as well as anything moving. I wasn't so keen on the harness I was using for him as it isn't padded and was a spare a friend gave me some time ago. I had a Perfect Fit harness here but it was too large for him, but I've since ordered a smaller girth part for it, and now it fits him. Hopefully, later today a new double ended lead is arriving in the post and using the front D-ring as well as the one on top, this should help improve his walking more. I haven't let him off-lead, but I imagine he would have good recall as he does in the house and garden and loves being with his humans. If he was homed with another dog with good recall, I'm sure he'd copy them in coming back, but equally if he was out with a dog that wasn't so good at coming back, I can see he'd copy them. Reggie copies my two when playing and it's more obvious as they have different styles. Reggie's style is quite animated, but he mostly plays quietly. One of mine plays like this with him, but my older Lurcher is more vocal in his play and lazy, as he likes to play whilst seated, and Reggie copies his style with the vocals.

Great update on a fabulous little hound. If I had room on my sofa (and my bank balance) he'd be up at the top of my list.

If Rowlf was further down the line with his socialising training, Reggie would be top of my list too!!!

I think we would have to draw lots for him guys, I so love this boy. He reminds me of my Socks, particularly when I first got him, his eyes and ears are very similar. Thanks for all you are doing for him, he looks so well and relaxed and very handsome in his harness. What a fab update xx
