My gosh, what a difference in the poorly little scrap that came in. Olive looks so shiny now and much more confident. Keep up the good work, well done Olive and Christine

Olive BlogI have a confession I bark at dogs and at people ... I can't help it. It's not because I'm aggressive, it's because I get anxious and if I bark at them they go away. I love The Human (and my previous fosterer and that Jo human I just met), and the other dogs in my pack, but other dogs and humans scare me. TH says it's because I wasn't socialised properly when I was a puppy. Not sure what that means so I just have to trust her and she says gradually I'll get more confident and less anxious. TH says she has a plan! Oh no, I say!!! I think I know what it means... she's already taking me for walks where there are lots of people, which is a bit scary. But I find if I can sniff them then it's not so bad and I can walk by them just like Daisy does. It's not so easy with dogs! I still bark at them but TH says I'm definitely getting better and sometimes I can control myself and not get as agitated as I did at first. I've even been on a pack walk AND off the leash in a paddock with some other dogs and played with them. Jo Human says she really likes me, which makes me wriggle when she calls my name! I'm keeping my toes crossed that one day somebody will want to adopt me... someone who knows about Lurchers and will understand me and know what to do to help me stay calm. TH says that she reckons within a few months I'll be much better and to show what I can achieve she's made this video of me. We're going to work together to help me so that I can meet more dogs and people and have fun playing with them. I know I can do it... just see for yourself

Thank you Christine, the video is brilliant. It shows Olive can get along with other dogs once she knows them, who knows the experiences she had before she was bought into the loving care of SLR. She is young and can change. I'm confident there is the 'perfect' home out there for her, preferably one with swimming pools for her to chillax in

Olive BlogYaaaaawwwwn!I've been having fun in the garden. There's lots of green balls on a tree here and they just fall off for me to play with. The Human doesn't seem to like me bringing them in the house, but that's fine cos I just flick them in the air and chase around the garden with them. Fortunately none of the others seem to be interested in them so I have them all to myself. Sticks are another matter! Whenever I find a good stick someone wants it too... apart from TH, that is, she clearly doesn't understand the importance of stick work! TH let me into her Den in the garden while she worked. I took a stick in there but she made me take it outside. There was lots of green balls to play with, sticks to find and plant pots to chew but after a while I got bored so I went and watched TH working. It was so exhausting I had to have a lie down.

Olive Blog
Happy Saturday!
It's been a busy week for me with lots of training and lots of play time. The Human is being a bit strict with me but she says she has to be so that I can learn all the things I missed out on when I was a puppy. I don't like walking on the streets where there are lots of people but I'm copying Daisy as she is really calm and likes people. Sometimes I get a bit anxious but I keep walking and it's all OK. I've been going to socialisation classes which is fun once we get going but I still find it hard when I first see other dogs. I love Alice, Daisy and Comet and TH says I'm gradually getting better so I'm hoping that there's someone out there who will love me for all my good bits and understand my insecurities.
The fun part of the day has been playing in the garden with all the green balls and the SNAKE! TH says it was supposed to stop leaves sticking in the gutters but it didn't work so she took it out and now I play with it. It's a brilliant game. I run round the garden with it, TH takes it away and hides it and then I find it and pull it out and run round the garden with it again... it's great! I'm not sure that TH understands what's going on, but she keeps taking it away so I guess she's happy to play the game. I also like playing with all the green balls.
Please send me all your positive learning vibes so that one day someone will want to adopt me! In the meantime I'm going to keep playing!
