Morning. Well it's time to leave for her op. She slept from 8pm until we woke her @ 6.30am. She's been out for a call of Nature and is looking, head tipped to one side, almost asking " where's breakfast?". I shall keep you updated .

Margot is in the safe hands of Hermann, ( Half Irish x German) who I trust implicitly as I took in a friends cat for dental work requiring several extractions. She hopped into my 7 seater and decided that she prefers being my 'wing-man', co-pilot and front seat passenger so she can survey her environs and glided into The Vet, greeted a waiting greyhound, relaxed and watched me complete her pre-op form. Hermann examined her and whilst her body weight is low, the pins of her hips, proud, her resting heart rate is just 60bpm making her a very fit athlete. She is likely to be ready at around 5pm although I have been told that sighthounds tend to take longer to recover from general anaesthesia so I'm not to panic if I don't hear until later. This vetinary practice is brand new and purpose built in an industrial unit so the layout is dog and cat and human friendly and has an air of calm, an almost soothing quality for all and I've yet to see outward displays of anxiety. Margot will be given an opiod analgesic as a part of her meds, have her nails clipped, her ears cleaned and her anal gland seen to. Her post op tta's will be non steroidal anti-inflammatory pain relief and gentle on the stomach, easily digested food for the next 4 days. She will need to be seen in a couple of days time for the post op check but you all know this, having 'been there' before. Margot has certainly made an impression on everyone she has met, be it in the pub yesterday afternoon when we popped in for a pint Epping Forest, the park and The Vet. She is such a great embassador for SLR and of course I have been putting the word out and I fully expect my next door neighbours, my sister and brother to approach Jenny in the near future as prospective foster parents. Any tips or advice for her post op care are very welcome and although I have yet to hear her bark, growl or vocalise other than deep sighs of contentment and 'laugh', ( in the style of Scooby Doo) , the house seems so quiet. Thanks everyone for your good wishes and I just know she will be absolutely fine and in fine fettle to meet you all Brentwood.

Wow, what a beauty you have got. Have only just caught up with this. Sending lots of safe GA and healing vibes for the beautiful Margot. The above comment is right - you should write a book. I noticed you mentioned that you took Margot to Epping Forest. Our Foster Freya is going to her new home this coming Sunday and will be based near Epping Forest. Maybe in the future you could catch up with her. If you need any other info I can give you this on a PM. Take it easy with Margot for a few days. Hugs to all.

She sounds gorgeous. Lots of keep calm vibes for you today. If Margot has the saluki trait of "singing" post op the vet won't keep her in longer than necessary! We have only had boys but peeps here put their girlies in an old teeshirt post op to keep the would safe from licking. Keeping her calm will be the hardest tho she sounds a very sedate lady at the moment. Can't wait to meet her, and you at the fun day.

Hope all goes well today Kaaren and that she settles well on her return home. Despite all the stuff about not likely to want to eat etc etc, mine are always ravenous when home from the VET, although she seems very polite so may not want to pig out like some! She looks and sounds an absolute darling and will be in high demand I'm sure. Keep up the good work xx

The vetinary nurse called at 3.15 to tell me that Margot has had her operation and that it went well and she was in 'recovery'. I was pre warned by Hermann that sighthounds take a long time to come round after a general anaesthetic. She too sleepy and groggy at that time so they wanted to keep her in for longer and I am planning to go and collect her at 6. I've been food shopping as I want to be here to care for her and don't want any distractions. I've really missed her today despite only having been a foster Mum since 11.20 on Saturday . Ah, the singing. I have watched a couple of YouTube offerings. Blimey! Oh, and anal gland milking! It sounded like some deviant sexual practice so I had to research that too...

Healing vibes for Margot. gentle hugs. I hope you don't experience the saluki song! My previous foster, Bebe, cried everytime she moved on the first day. Just keep her comfortable and offer small amounts of food and don't panic if she isn't hungry tonight. Once she feels better try to keep her from jumping around, at least for a few days. (Easier said than done!)

Hope you have got your girlie safely home now. She will probably be pretty dozy tonight and a bit uncomfortable. Lots if quick healing and keep calm vibes sent.

She's home. All went well and the handover was informative. She is steady on her feet, ( and thats the reason I left it to the last minute to go and collect her). She is spaced out on opioids pain meds as keeps walking into the hall and staring into space. The buster collar was to be kept on for 10 days and I've taken a photo of her wrestling wiith it with both front paws. Thanks for the t-shirt tip and she's now wearing my Muppet Show Bert & Ernie t-shirt with the surplus fabric bunched and held in place with a hair band so its tighter around her body. The Inflacalm was out of stock so I'm to go and collect it once it arrives at the practice. She's not interested in water or the Canine Gastro Intestinal food that was supplied but thats to be expected. It's there for her to eat when she's ready. She will be seen on Thursday or Friday and then after 10 days, on Thursday 5th May. Supervised, on the lead toiletting as gamboling about is strictly forbidden as could rip her stitches. So, I'm doubtful about the Brentwood jolly. Margot has now settled in her basket. She says thank you for all your good wishes and positive vibes.
