Thanks all for your best wishes. Praise and gratitude due to jinjili for being the lemon in this convoluted road-trip. Just hanging around waiting to do what they should be doing, only to be told the plan's changed. Again. Then again. AND to still be on hand to look after Tilly for a couple of weeks while we're away. Sleeping in/on our bed? Her cuddles come highly recommended! It was mostly The Boyz who choose and in particular Ringo. He's got underlying issues and I've never seen him give such a tender and considerate treatment to any dog as he's done with Tilly. She was terrified of the guy to start with, but she now realised what to sensitive soul he is. ... ... Have to look deep sometimes! I've never seen him allow a dog to walk under him and Tilly seems to consider him but a bridge to pass under. Joey's a cooler dude, but this evening I've not seen him play so enthusiastically for,,, ever. He pretty much beat-up Tilly as much as he could catch her and hold her in a corner for a moment. Then she's giving some back and off for a mad, seriously insane, dash around any wall of death she can make contact with. Then a "TIME OUT!" and a "OI" and peace. Tilly's an extraordinary puppy. I've not had the mental energy to clicker train yet, but as she is such a huge food-monster, she'll be a very willing student. And then she pee'd inside. .... Need to get a grip on her signals, because I was looking right at her and didn't get the message.

Having not planned this occurrence, Tilly has her first day at work today. What an adventure! So many new people and places. No Ringo. Simon in a meeting for an hour and lots of volunteers to looks after her. A colleague taking her out to meet his wife & son who'd popped in and him telling his son (5or6yo?) that she's his new dog to take home, only to burst into tears when told it's a 'joke' and Tilly joining in the crying and it descending into a full-on drama.... From wide-eyed To flaked out

She's adorable, and I'm pleased that she's found a forever home so quickly. Our dogs are the best guides as to the energy that other dogs give out and once you see their response you know what to do. My Alice is a very challenging little girl but to see her with the fosters, especially the pups, you would never know it... she is the perfect surrogate mum. It sounds like Ringo has found his role with Tilly. Way to go Simon for recognising what had happened, and well done Helen for accepting the inevitable once the dogs had made the decision.

Yeah, I thought that was a bit rotten too, poor kid. Simon - you'll have to talk them in to getting him one for real.
